I recently upgraded my internet service and added voice. When I swapped my modem they gave an Arris TG852G. I returned home and managed to get everything provisioned; signals look fine, internet speeds are great, phone can make and receive calls, and everything appears to be working great.
Unfortunately the Arris is a gateway device, which I'm not really fond of. I already have a router all set up from before that I'd much rather use. I called the number listed in this thread and asked for it to be put into bridge mode. On the first call they said they'd enable it and the gateway should reset; it didn't reset. They then said they were going to dig a little deeper and after a while asked me again if it had reset; it still hadn't. After that I was asked to reset it manually by unplugging it. When it came back up they asked a couple questions to see if it had worked, and it looked like it had. But I had accidentally looked at the wrong thing (my own mistake) and it still wasn't working.
As I had already ended the previous call, I called again and explained that it wasn't actually enabled. This second time I got a different person. This person said it had now been enabled and asked if there was anything else. After hanging up I checked it and it wasn't enabled. I then tried resetting the gateway(with and without anything attached to it), resetting my router, and connecting my computer directly to the gateway. Every time the gateway continued to act as router, giving me a NAT'ed address.
So now I need to know if there is anything else I should have tried, or if I'm just stuck being double NAT'ed or using just the Arris until I can afford to buy a separate modem to use for the internet.

bridge mode is now enabled on the gateway. ![]()

I don't know what to tell ya, I'm still getting a NAT'ed address no matter what I connect to it or what I do. I've already checked for static IP addresses and anything else I could think of.

that is strange, i just double checked again and it shows it is enabled. i will do some more checks and make sure it holds on enable.

Can you post the output of an ipconfig /all when connected directly to the gateway device please.

O/k. This; "DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.0.0.1" confirms that it is not yet in bridge mode.

that it does, no arguement there. the device itself however reads that it is enabled. added to that though, i wasnt able to reset it from here, i had to ask for a manual reset because the gateway wasnt communicating with us. also the first time it was enabled it automatically reverted back to the original settings. i'm working on trying to get it to reset one more time and re-enable the bridge mode

swapped out gateway for a regular emta. up and running properly now.
