When the Arris TM602G modem was installed, the installer positioned it so that on the desk, it is standing up on its end, instead of lying flat on the bumpers on the bottom of the unit.
Does it matter how the modem is positioned whether it should be flat or on its end? In looking at the modem on its end, the holes (to dissapate any heat?) would be at the top of it, but if lying flat, they would be on the right side of the unit.
I haven't had any problems with it since it was installed three or four years ago, but I'm just curious.
Thanks.

Judging by the position of the vent holes it seems that it would be better ventilated the way it is (standing vertically).
