Buying 722g

Hope somebody can help on this. I want to buy 722g from ebay for my phone and internet service. I got S/N and mac addresses from seller, but I have couple questions.

1. Can comcast update firmware for phone side on the modem? Seller said that internet side in modem will work but phone may not because firmware is old and needs to be updated.

2. Is there phone number I can call and verify that modem is not blocked knowing S/N and mac address?

3. Any suggestions on 722 vs 702?

Thanks

No, don't buy from Ebay....Comcast won't provision it

The only eMTA modem you can buy with Comcast is the Arris TM 722G, this can only be purchased from BestBuy with a Comcast rep/kiosk in the store. Price is around $150.

Some market areas do not allow customer owned eMTA modems at all, they may also insist on professional installation, arranged with the Comcast rep at time of purchase. Some market areas do allow self install.

Edit......>Guess you could try Comcast Steve here:

But you don't want to end up buying a brick.....

Best Buys with a Comcast Connection Center.

Comcast wants to install 602. Can I request a 722?

Re: Buying 722g

Doesn't hurt to ask, but what usually happens is, you get whatever the tech has in the back of his truck..

I asked the tech and he got me a 722.
