Can Ping Gateway, but NO DNS SERVER!

My cable works for the most part. But these daily interruptions in service are becoming a pain! On our cable here in Dallas Tx. it seems that the Comcast DNS servers keep going down. When I loose connection the modem still blinks as if its getting traffic, but I can't get out anywhere. I can ping the Comcast Gateway just fine. But it seems the DNS servers are flakey and just keep quitting.

I knew the problem wasn't with my machine. Now I know that it is just the DNS servers. Can't anyone at Comcast fix this? Perhaps give us some extra DNS servers to try for when these 2 go down?

P.S. Don't even try to tell me it's something else. If I can communicate with the Gateway but not the DNS servers its because the DNS servers are just down! FIX IT!!!!!!

Which DNS servers are Comcast's DHCP currently telling you to use? (I'd like to put 'em on a cyclic test; see what happens)

When they're working, try doing a nslookup on your own IP address. Note which servers claim to be the authority - and manually plug their IP's into your system. That's the equivalent of climbing up the tree one level... I've found Comcat's auth servers to be more reliable.
