Well, I switched to Comcast Cable from a DSL provider a few weeks back. Overall the improvement is very noticable, but unfortunately I have an annoying problem cropping up with the connection.
In games (and games are the only place I could actually notice the difference), things run great 90% of the time online. But regularly (no matter the time of day) I notice a periodic spikes of lag. So while I might run a ping of 60ms, suddenly it shoots up very high for a brief 3-5 seconds. I'm also not connected wirelessly.
I'm subscribed for Blast, and have Kaspersky Internet Security if that is relevant. I'll run whatever diagnostics are asked to resolve this. Its becominng quite irritating for the amount of money it costs.

I'm having the exact same issue. Oddly enough it only started doing this very recently, maybe last weekend. I'd like some clarification and a fix for this as well, it's really ruining playing video games for me.

I have not had much time to play games since I switched to Comcast, but I'm pretty sure I've had the issues at least two or three weeks, so I feel safe saying I've had it since the switch. But hopefully if we share symptoms we have similar solutions as well.

I have a simular issue as in the line drops momentarikly very frequently which then drops my IP phones. THis is noticed as the calls will get dropped. The access seems to come right back but is causing serious problems. Also if game playing it drops which causes an issue with the game. The service returns right away but it is enough to knock you off. I do run spiceworks and Wireshark and I see the momentray drop. I know I am not the only one seeing this issue.

Same problem started this week, comcast tech came today could not find anything wrong. He said he would get in touch with internet tech and call back. When i called support with internet connection issues you would have thought they would have sent an internet tech. LOL now that i have found other comcast customers with the same game lagg and CI issues i will wait to try anything else.

Im having the same issue. For me it seems like I will lag a lot or completely drop out for like 2-3 seconds, and then everything is fine. Its really annoying. It started happening right after a several hour internet outage maybe a week or so ago. Where do you guys live? I live in south florida.

I am in Tennessee, the issue started around tuesday, the only change in my computer was a comcast easy share update I am thinking it may be the cluprit. I am going to try system restore to before the update to see if it changes. I hooked an older computer back up that had been offline for 3 months, it has the same cod4 game and the conniciton issue is not there, I think that it is because of no updates either windows or the easy share update.
I will try the system restore and reply back.

I never installed that software. I called comcast and the rep sent a refresh signal to my modem. I was not optimistic, and sure enough it didnt work. About to call back. Anyone else with this problem recently?

Check your programs and features you may have got it without knowing.

OP here. Sorry for saying nothing, was busy and then, oddly enough, my connection dropped for nearly three days straight. I pay money for this? DSL may have been slightly slower, but at least I could play a game on it. Though at the last place I lived, we also had Comcast Cable and it ran absolutely great, so this is even more frustrating.
Unfortunately neither computer in the house has Easy Share on it, so I doubt thats somehow the culprit behind this. May be similar, but different, problems.
After my connection mysteriously returned, the problems continued to persist. I'll add more details, but I don't think any are particularly relevant.
Subscription: Blast
Modem: Cisco DPC3008
Router: Linksys Wireless N, WRT 300NV1
Don't think my antivirus is the culprit, I get the same problems whether I have it enabled or not.
Thanks for any and all advice on the topic, and again, if theres any diagnostics I can post, I'll do so. Thanks.

I too had the problem for 3-4 days, after removing the Easy Solve and doing nothing else i have had no issues since. I play 1-2 hours each day.Sorry my fix did not help you.
