Frequent Connection Drops

I'm having trouble with my connectivity. About 8-12 times throughout the day the US (upstream) light on the modem will start blinking and I'll lose my connection. It will continue to blink for 10-20 minutes and I cannot find a solution. I've tried powering the modem/router down and back up but this has no effect. Anyone know of a solution?

What do the modem's signal stats look like ? Try getting them here; http://192.168.100.1

Please post the *Downstream Power Level*, the *Upstream Power Level*, and the *SNR* (Signal to Noise Ratio) numbers.

Re: Frequent Connection Drops

DS  -5.18 dBmV

US  49.50 dBmV

Can't find the SNR.

What modem do you have? Is there a router?

Re: Frequent Connection Drops

The upstream power is marginal. Do those power levels remain stable to within 3-4 dB at all times ? To try to get a little more wiggle room, are there any excess/unneeded coax cable splitters in the line leading to the modem that can be eliminated/re-configured ?

If there aren't any uneeded splitters that can be eliminated and if your coax wiring setup can't be reconfigured so that there is a single two way splitter connected directly off of the drop from the street/pole with one port feeding the modem and the other port feeding the rest of the house/equipment with additional splits as needed and you've checked all the wiring and fittings for integrity and tightness and refresh them by taking them apart then putting them back together again, then perhaps it's best to book a tech visit to investigate and correct.

Re: Frequent Connection Drops

2 coaxial cables from the wall, one white (comcast?), one black (not sure), head into a 4-way splitter which lead into the receiver and modem.
