Wireless gateway SBG6850 drops internet connection for several minutes and then automatically reboots.
What does the SNMP event log from the gateway tell me? There seems to be many critical errors.

that modem sbg6850 is not in the list of comcast approved modems .

there is older version of that gateway device listed here with a long list of problems .

Have you seen this thread? http://forums.comcast.com/t5/Connectivity-and-Mode
Your gateway has a firmware issue. Comcast is aware of the problem and is working on a solution.
Connection and trouble shooting tips (How to check signal levels.) . Info you should post to get help.

I mis-typed the gateway model. It should be SBG6580 which is a supported modem.
