I have recently been experiencing intermittant internet connectivity issues. When I lose the connection, the "cable" light on my D link DCM-202 changes from green to orange. It happens several times a day, sometimes several times an hour, and lasts for about 30-60 seconds. Any help you can give is appreciated. I am running Win 7 Pro 64-bit and also use a Linksys WRT54G V8 router between the modem and the computer, all connected via ethernet.
I have included the following from the configuration page.
Thanks.

You'll want to replace the modem. I'd suggest you check out a Motorola 6121 or Zoom 5341-J either one is about $75. When you get your new modem, just hook it up and call Comcast, they will activate it for you.

i have 3 dos windows continuously pinging my DCM-202. So far it hasn't gone down while I'm ping flooding it.
ping -t 192.168.100.1
04-05-2012 01:13 PM
That ping is on the LAN (local) end. FWIW, that modem has a long history of being problematic on the Comcast network WAN (remote) end.

Yes, i understand where the ping is coming from but it's working, or at least seems to be. I can now listen to NBA audio league pass without interruption.

To be more clear, it is the way that that modem/firmware load reacts with the CC system (certain brands of their CMTS's) that has historically been an issue. I was trying to indicate that a local ping may not prove/reveal anything in this case.. Good luck with it.

Thanks for your help. I am looking into a new modem, and, since I will be going DOCSIS 3.0, a new router as well, as I currently have a Linksys WRT54G v8 that I understand will limit speed. Do you have any manufacturer/model suggestions for that as well?

The upstream power is borderline high but may be o/k as long as it remains fairly stable.
