Yes it should work fine. Just use the recessed reset button on the rear of the Arris modem before you connect that router to it. With a modem that good you may want to consider upgrading that router to something more current that will have more horsepower.

The WGR614 is a very capable router. Remember, if your WiFi operates at a theoretical limit of 54Mbs (11g) then the best burst speed of the modem will be flattened out to that.
Your home network speed is the minimum of all the link speeds between the computer and the Internet provider.
If you are satisfied with your WiFi reception, you do not need to pointlessly upgrade your router.
