Poor internet reliability

I had VOIP with comcast in Spokane WA,, worked perfectly.. Since Moving to Castle Rock 80108, the internet VOIP drops calls,, course inspecting my cable modem the internet connection has dropped, sometimes comes back on its own, sometimes por the cable modem.. This is going on two week (4 techs later )and one can depend on an outage during prime time as well as other times.. Of course support doesn't want to hear it...  Hopefully  you triple players will not have depend on your your VOIP for an emergency situation,, could get ugly.. Was thinking of getting an attorney to start a class action suit,, since Comcast VOIP is just an amusement and not to be depended on.. I also have a PC program that pings comcast.com and shows all the outages but no one seems to care.. Maybe one of the Comcast  love ones has to die before something serious is done about this situation..

Your issue may be one of connection quality that is quite local to you and not as widespread as you imply. To advise you further in this venue we need to see (at a minimum) your modem's signal stats, They can be gotten here:

 

http://192.168.100.1

 

 

That would be a good place to start.

Other posters here have reported problems in your area. Is anything showing on the outage board? You've had several techs out to check on it?

 

I've asked that someone higher up investigate. But in the meantime, if you can provide more info, maybe we can help you help them figure out what's wrong.

Didnt see any way to attach a picture.. Here is the text from the window.. Comcast installed a new Cisco modem last week and these are the only stats available all other tabs say unavailable.. I also deleted my MAC address out of the printouts for gps.

yes the techs have rewired the home and changed the modem.. Their meters say everything is good. Seems like they dont have a Customer system which keeps track of what the techs do.. The most recent tech wanted to change the modem,,, again,, he didn know it was changed 3 days ago by his buddy! This is one of those things that loses customer confidence..

 

How local is the outage board is this just for me or just general ??

I also have a program form Qwest VOIP http://67.130.192.153/index.html which checks the condition of the line for VOIP,, In Wa state I had no packet loss show up.. Here in 80108 the packet loss is 30%..

It is my understanding that the outage board is fairly local if you are logged in. It will have your name on the page if you are.

 

I agree that there should be some way for the techs to see your history. That would seem to be something Comcast would want to monitor.

Yes, if you have a total outage, you can't see that page. You can also call Comcast, but that's another adventure. But you asked if it was a local outage report. It's supposed to be.

 

I don't know the ins and outs of reading the modem and other connectivity reports you posted. Hopefully someone else will jump in here to comment and suggest.

Have the same problem here in independence Mo. They came out to fix it and say there is nothing wrong. Issue is they come out 2 days after the fact when it was raining the day my services was out. All of this started when they dig up my front yard to run a cable to the neighbors yard. Still have the issue and nothing resolved. I think that the service has gone down over the last year. Does anyone know where the service went?

Beth, there is. They can use one of their computer based online tools to poll the CMTS and look an individual's modem connection history and current health.

My point was Comcast doesn't seem to have a CRM (customer relationship management system), where they keep track of what a tech does when they come onsite and what they think they found and what they did to fix something.. Comcast tech wanting to replace my cable modem again, no knowing that the previous tech replaced it makes for wasted work, poor service for other customers and makes our cable service cost more... But thats the old way customer service was done when I worked for IBM in the field.

Can see that Comcast has been working on the routers.. Now am getting intermittant 3 min total outages,, seems like this is about the time it takes for a router to reboot.. Loose the cable light on my cisco modem.

I do have past 4 months the line quality was very worst. I couldnt use voip phone. Many times technicians visited and they dont find any problem. It will work at the mid night and all day time, when too many people use the internet, we cannot access the phone at all. my ping test results shows such a variation.

Modem was replaced the a DOCSIS 1.0/1.1/2.0/3.0 Compliant,, no failures for 4 days    .. was getting 5-8 failures a day..
