Reasons for SNR variability??!

Thanks to Dete and others I finally got a LONG term issue with power corrected a month or so ago (Comcast replaced a line from the nearest amplifier up the street around to the street behind me and that seemed to be it unless a heck of a coincidence!).  My SNR also went from a marginal/miserable 30 up to 35!  The power is still okay (-4 to -5) but the SNR has slowly dropped and is now back to 30.  On Thanksgiving day it was even touching 29 and my guests had very pixellated football!!  This is clearly not a drop issue...or I don't see how.  Anything I can do?

Thanks!

Re: Reasons for SNR variability??!

Oh!  I should point out that I use an email address from a Comcast account in another county so if you're 'looking me up' you'll get the wrong service address!!  If needed just email me for it.  It's in Montgomery County, MD (my email address is Annapolis, where service is fine!).

For anyone following this thread, the poster also has one going on the TV forum HERE

Mr. Fischer's signal problems are all related between his HSI and TV issues.

The S/N and signal variability issues are either the outside plant coaxial system up to the node including amps, fittings and passives, the drop cable and related fittings or the inside wiring including splitters, fittings and cabling, or ingress / egress from leakage into or out of the RF system.

Since your issues has already been notified to the administrators on this forum, I just want to make sure everyone knows there are two thread going on the same signal issues.  Dete will get the right people on it until it is fixed once and for all for you.

You might want to email CCDete your contact information to make sure he has every way to contact you at Detreon_Roberts@comcast.com

Re: Reasons for SNR variability??!

!!!!  My power and SNR have been +4-5 and 29-30 since Thanksgiving eve.  Actually the same power before that but SNR went suddenly from 34-35 down to 29-30 and no digital TV.  Just a moment ago the numbers both jumped to -8 and 34!  TV, of course, works.  I have a local tech appointment this afternoon which i will cancel if things hold.  Can any of you tell me what's happening?

Thanks!!

Don't you dare cancel the appointment, you will never get this fixed if the tech doesn't check out everything and find what the root cause is.

If he doesn't find anyting now, at least you are on record to be having some signal issues.

It is very common for issues like this to be up and down due to the humidity, rain, temperature and other factors affecting the cabling & fittings.

Re: Reasons for SNR variability??!

Sorry.  I just did a bit ago, but only after the tech who called on his way in said he just had other cancellations on my street because of service restorations at those locations also.  I'm disappointed that local doesn't put it together when there are multiple calls on the same street.  What could he have done in the house?

OK, I'm glad they think if it was a neighborhood issue and they have it under control.  Having others on the block certainly helps the cause.
