I have blast performance internet (I THINK), the one with the tier of 20 Megs down. Have had it for a montha dn all has been well until today. Suddenly my download speeds are 4 to 6 megs, I have not called comcast yet - wanted to post here 1st. Below are the results of a speed test and the modem stats along with log file. Anyone see anything that looks amiss before I call comcast?

Are there any excess/unneeded coax cable splitters in the line leading to the modem that can be eliminated/re-configured ?
If there aren't any uneeded splitters that can be eliminated and if your coax wiring setup can't be reconfigured so that there is a single two way splitter connected directly off of the drop from the street/pole with one port feeding the modem and the other port feeding the rest of the house/equipment with additional splits as needed and you've checked all the wiring and fittings for integrity and tightness and refresh them by taking them apart then putting them back together again, then perhaps it's best to book a tech visit to investigate and correct.

1 splitter - cable enters the home goes into a splitter - 1 side to the TV other side to the cable modem. I checked all 3 connections and they are tight. Perhaps it is time to call comcast then.

Must have been something on Comcast's end - I have done nothing since my last post and suddenly my downloads are back up at 20 some megs.

For curiosity, are the up and down power levels and the SNR the same as they were before ?

Pretty much. It may possibly be a transient capacity / congestion issue on your segment.

I had the same issues with a Ubee modem. Sometimes the download speeds would b e fine and other times slow. The Comcast g uy told me it was my modem, so I took it back and got a brand new one (Cisco this time), and am having the same issues. So I'm thinking this is something on Comcast's end.

I have an Moto SB 6121 and the same broadband tier (Performance, 20Mbps down) and as of ~ 7/1/12 I've been having the same problem with crawling internet speeds. Powercycling will bring speed up to approx 18-20Mbps for a brief period of time and then it tests out to between .6 to 4.
After dealing with it for a week, I chatted with a Comcast tech and the signal status was fine.
She said, however, my account was not "set up" properly, and she fixed it. My last instruction was to power cycle everything and it should be fine.
It is not fine. The situation remains as it was.

Ever since I got back into town on Sunday, I've been unable to play Diablo III due to latency. I thought it was D3 servers but doing a speed test on Speedtest.net shows my Comcast speeds are abyssmal. Spikes to 20 and then drops to 4 or 5, and then spikes again, and back down. Then half my upload speed I should have.
