the requested operation requires elevation
Huh?
So than I type ipconfig/renew,and I get this;
No operation can be performed on Wireless Network Connection while it has its media disconnected
Wireless LAN adapter Local Area Connection:
Media state.......................media disconnected
I am using the SMCD3GNV gateway

Are you trying to do this while using an "Administrator's account ?

That's just informing you of the networking adapters that are currently disabled.
I am using the SMCD3GNV gateway
This matters not as the operation is being performed on you computer. Why are you trying this ?

Be advised that what you are doing will be changing the private (non-routable) local LAN IP address that the router segment of that device's built in DHCP server is assigning to the computer and not the public (WAN) IP address that Comcast's DHCP server is assigning to your connection. Not sure if that is what you are trying to do.
