Re: netflix connection to tv.

You'll have to be a little more clear on what you're asking.  Does you mean the streaming Netflix service?  Does your TV have a builtin Netflix player and you're having trouble with it, or as you asking how to get a device with a Netflix app connected to your TV?  If so, there a TON of ways to do this, depending on your budget, TV connections, device connections, etc.

Here I use Netflix on two different setups (other than my computers, of course).

1. TV in the family room has a Playstation 3 with the Netflix app installed.  The PS3 is connected via HDMI to the TV and I simply start the Netflix app, choose a movie and go.

2. TV in the bedroom has an 2nd gen Apple TV connection via HDMI to the TV.  The Apple TV besides streaming my large video and audio library from iTunes, but also has many other features, one of which is a Netflix player.

There are many other devices with Netflix, like just about any computer, other game systems like Wii and Xbox360, set-top boxes like Roku and Boxee, some blu-ray players, and some of the newer Smart TV's have builtin apps like Netflix and others.

You can also connect your computer to your TV depending on your hardware.  Some TV's have DVI ports and many computers have HDMI ports these days.  Not to mention that are DVI to HDMI converter cables.

So we would need more information about exactly what you want to do before giving more specific suggestions.

Re: netflix connection to tv.

I have the same question.  Looks like Comcast cant answer it.  No surprise here.  For a "High Tech" companies they have a fleet of dummys.

Re: netflix connection to tv.

Comcast didn't answer the question, but the original poster did get an answer, and even marked their question as solved.  I suggest you have another look at the posts preceding yours.

Then please expand on your "me too" post.  And casting aspersions rarely compels people to feel helpful.  Are some Comcast reps less helpful than others?  No doubt, but you are out of line (and ignoring posting guidelines) with your remark--however borne of frustration it may be.

Re: netflix connection to tv.

FWIW, tracing to the Netflix site and where the content is actually delivered from is two different things.

Re: netflix connection to tv.

I have a Vizio Blue Ray DVD player hooked up and was not having any problem streaming movies until this past week. Now a message comes up telling me I am not connected to the internet, which I am, and if I do get connected another message tells me that my connection is too slow to  to retrieve. So what is it?

Re: netflix connection to tv.

Complex answer.  Your connection to the Streaming Content provider is divided into Five segments

1.  Your local infrastructure.  Router, Modem, AC Power, RF interference form things like Cordless phone bases etc

2.  Comcasts Regional Network servicing your home.  Affected by neighbors sharing your Bandwidth.

3.  Internet Backbone provided by ATT, Level3 etc. Affected by Congestion caused by routing loops and failures.

4.  The Regional network servicing the Content Provider

5.  The Server Farm containing the Streaming video of interest. Affected by demand/capacity issues.

You could start your own thread so that the folks here in the Forum can help you.

If you start your own thread you could do a copy and paste of your Modem signal levels and a traceroute to show up local and regional issues that might exist.

For the signal levels, you can browse in to your Modem at 192.168.100.1 and provide us with the Downstream Power and Signal to Noise Ratio and the upstream power leverl.

For the Traceroute, you can click Start/Run and type cmd in the Run box

This will bring up a black screen with a blinking cursor.

At the blinking cursor type tracert netflix.com or tracert hulu.com (whatever streaming video site you are trying to use)

If you copy and paste that info back into your thread, the folks here will be able to help you.

Re: netflix connection to tv.

This forum is hosted by Comcast, but most of the help is supplied by other customers.

As for your problem, like they say "The devil is in the details."

Are you getting the message from the TV or the computer? What is the brand and model of TV? What is the computer OS and browser? Are you trying to connect through WiFi or Ethernet?

Re: netflix connection to tv.

Can I stream Netflix through to my comcast DVR to my TV, rather than watching it on my laptop?  I do not want to pay for an additional device.  Is there a way to stream it through my digital DVR?

Re: netflix connection to tv.

Well, it's a Sharp Dolby Digital...About 8 yrs old and I'm just trying to use my internet service to do so without having to by "another" device.  My daughter has an XBOX 360 & I know that there is a card you can buy to access it, but I really don't want to buy anything else.  I cannot believe with what I pay a month that Comcast does not allow you to access Netflix thru your DVR. (like similar versions like Tivo)

Really, that surprises you? Why would Comcast give you access to the competition?

No. But most flat screen TVs have PC inputs, you can probably connect your TV to your laptop. If your laptop has an HDMI port, that is all you would need to connect to a flat screen.
