Curious if you're attempting payment via your bank's debit/credit card -- or via checking account with routing and account number? Sometimes banks can get flaky about the checking account info versus using a debit/credit card.

I paid my bill with a check account from the Insurance Co. My husband died. It had an account # and routing #. Over $100,000 is in account. My service has been turned off am going in today to pay bill and discontinue service. No one said anything to me. Check returned. Fee assessed. What rotten service. I have been a customer for almost 20 years. So heartbroken

I just got a letter from Comcast saying my payment was returned too and my bank has no record of a pending payment received or a returned payment. So Comcast is "investigating" it.
Ridiculous! Obviously it was a system issue on their end since this is not an isolated occurence.

I also had this happen this week. I told them that my bank had no record of mayment and that several people have posted about this this during the week. They said it is not a problem on their end and they will not reverse the charges unless my bank will prove that they didnt deny payment, which my bank will not do. I have had Comcast for 3 months and it has been 1 issue after the next since day 1. So sick of them! Hopefully with this many posts we can get a response from Comcast. Terrible customer service.

well...so i'm not the only one who has had this problem....only found out they assessed non-sufficient fund fee when i checked my on-line bill...no record of this with my bank...
i did not cancel my auto-payment until i called customer service and was told the routing number didn't have enough numbers entered..mine you i have paid on-line with my checking account and never had any problems until i signed up for auto-payments.
i wonder how much money they make off this scam....needless to say i have stopped auto-payments...back to paper bills especially dealing with comcast.....

I posted on someone else's message as well! I'm glad to so it is not just me. This is ridiculous! If I had another cable option in my area I would definitely change companies.

Comcast is yet AGAIN claiming that I had a returned check. A rep on the phone told me that I would have to bring in my banking info to show this was not the case. She also told me that her supervisor would call me. I, of course, never received a call and when I went to the local office, they told me there was nothing they could do about it. Trying to call back and connecting with a live person is almost impossible. As if they are not already charging us too much for services, they are making up things to charge us for. What the FUDGE ??

I have had this same problem with Comcast 2x's, a few months ago and again this month. I have had the same bank account for 10+ years, and have been using that same account to pay on-line for 3+ years. I called CS to fight it and they put in a request to remove it. I have had other billing issues as well! I came to the forum to see if anyone else was having the same issues. Sorry to see there are others.

I had the same exact problem today- when I call comcast about the problem. They said my service was interrupted for a check from yesterday-mind you I paid by check three weeks ago. And it seem like they use old checks over and over again.

Here is a copy of the email I sent to Comcast about there billing issues. I encourage everyone to send a letter.
There is a definite problem with Comcast billing system for payments done on Comcast.com site the last week of June. People are being charged a returned check fee by Comcast for an error that is obviously on the Comcast site. When you call customer service they are in Mexico and can barely understand what you are saying. I just spent 2.5 hours on the phone. It took 3 call to get to a supervisor. The first 2 times my call was transferred to a line requesting the zip code of the new service address. We have been with Comcast many many many years and I an angry and upset about this. This issue has cost me a total of 4 hours of my work time to deal with my bank and Comcast. This is terrible customer service. I am so angry I may be changing to dish network immediately. It’s a pity that your long time customers mean nothing to you. Please see the following web page about these other complaints. http://forums.comcast.com/t5/Billing/25-return-che

I paid my bill online last month. Maybe a week after doing so, I get a call from Comcast telling me my payment didn't go through and that if I paid by cedit card over the phone right then, then I would not be charged any fees. (I don't know why there was any trouble in the first place as I have Overdrawn Protection with my bank that will automatically take out of savings if I don't have enought in checking). Now, I see my new bill has the return check fee on it when I was told by the person on the phone that no fee would be charged if I paid it right then! I called Comcast but the person I spoke to said she didn't see any notation about not having to pay that fee, and she herself was not going to waive it. I couldn't speak to anyone over her as she said she was it. She also said that I have to pay the return check fee because by the time I was called about making a payment over the phone, it was already past the due date of payment. I then asked her what was the point of them even calling me to make a payment over the phone right then and there rather than just going back online and doing it??? She didn't have an answer for that. Am I screwed?

Don't be heartbroken, be angry. Comcast charged me an $8 late charge but nowhere on the any bill is their statement of late charge computation or amount. My check left the bank on 7/2 and Comcast's statement required payment by 7/2. $8 can buy a lot and amounts to more than 10% per month service charge for late payment!

Ok I hope this gets to a lot of people who use Comcast online bill pay! I had issue of a $25 return check fee and found it to be Comcast problem on their site or a scam Comcast is doing. I was never notified of this until I saw the extra charges on the next statement. The online pay system is adding too many "X" in their security system hiding the account number on the final transaction. Meaning there should only be 7 "X" then your visible 4 last digits of your account. Hope this makes sense! When your bank receives the transaction, the extra "X" shows up on their end as a "0" at which time it gets denied for incorrect account number. I had to fight with Comcast for 3 days talking/yelling at numerous representatives and supervisors that wouldn't resolved the problem or take responsibility for this serious problem. Not to mention the liability or security breach this may turn into! If you complain, they would possibly take off the $25 fee and give you a 20 dollar credit after shutting my service off due to an incompetent representative that didn't do her job! That was unacceptable to me. Took me 11 incompetent people an intentional hang up and almost 3 hours on the phone until one supervisor Tom # 190 from Lebanon (thank you) that finally got it credited and adjusted my entire account! But the online problem still exists! They never adjusted the problem online. So please look at the final transaction before sending it through or its going to continue to get denied. I had to talk with my bank representative twice before actually finding where the problem started. If this is a scam, Comcast is making a lot of money on this. I googled backed to June where customers are complaining about this same issue and not getting the real problem resolved! Maybe intentional? I think this was a big enough issue to make people aware, either Comcast customers or any other people having this problem. Hope this helps and make all consumers aware!!
