Charged for my own modem :(

I have my account on autopay so I haven't been looking at my online statement each month so I understand this is partially my fault for not noticing right away but I have been getting charged for modem rental on a modem returned months ago. I tried to call in but it was after hours, the message said I could email. The email response I got told me I had to call in and talk to someone. I called again and was told today that I can only be refunded back two months even though I returned the modem to a Comcast store and have been wrongfully charged since way more than two months ago. Is there really no way I can be refunded the money I should not have been charged? This on top of the numerous dropped connection issues we experience is really making me consider looking for another internet provider :smileysad:
