I just signed up for the triple play, and they waived the monthly Modem fee for one year.
They sent me an Arris modem, and a Netgear modem..
So when I begin paying the rental fee next year, will it be a $7 fee on the modem and router, or will I be charged a seperate rental fee for each?
Thank you

Usually you would only have to pay for the modem, routers that Comcast give out still belong to them, but they are usually free of rent.
What model router did you get?

Netgear WNR100
I was going to exchchange the Arris-Netgear set up for a single Gateway unit because it would be cheaper to by after my free year is up, but I'm understanding the single unit is not as good at the two seperate units.

That is correct, the gateway units suck. Always have a seperate modem/eMTA and router.

I take it you mean the WNR1000v2-VC?
If so check the update channel when logging into the router.
You should have.....
Hardware Version WNR1000v2-VC Firmware Version V1.2.2.56NA GUI Language Version
V1.0.0.71
If that firmware doesn't show up through the update channel, you can download it here:
http://support.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id
the firmware supports the new IPv6.
Edit....>Of course you may want to use a better router of your own, but it's still good to know...![]()

Wow what a racket CC has; they shouldn't charge for a modem, as it should be included in the price of service.
I never paid for the Verizon DSL modem, but had to supply my own router

wht ur paying for with the single arris modme and netgear router is just the modem there is no charge for the router but however the wireless gateway being a all in one unit is still the same price 7 a month
