as senior citizen i recieved COL increase in 2012 and the word got out and now, i can said " i had a COL increase" while the rent,food,heat/air,gas and xfinity got it all !! only thing free now days is, What Almighty provide. Please!! Comcast start charging us what we view not what you provide also i'm sick and tired of xfinity in my face while watching tv it remind me i'm one of millions paying for it. I post this in a Comcast forum below back in 08 and still true today. i get this way when i get a rate increase plus XFINITY Bundled Services $10 Retention Discount is now $4.12 BS.
Why is it, i'm not inform about a rate increase until it's time to pay or word of mouth, also take 15% of your Ads revenue and give it back customers who hit hard time and the senior citizen who on fix income. I was on Senior plan 5 or 6 yrs ago, i would still be on it " Maybe " if did't upgraded my plan.

While the 'look' of paper billing statements do vary around the country, my bill has a section, right on the front of it which is entitled "News from Comcast". Right there is where I will see notification of any upcoming price increase, or other changes, such as effective dates of channels being added or moved.
If you view your bill online through Customer Central: If you look at your Billing Details, and keep on scrolling down, the current Price List for all Comcast services are listed there. This appears a couple of times a year. You can also get a current price list at a Comcast office in your area.
Comcast is not the only ISP that has ads. So do all the others. If we didn't have ads, we would be paying more for services than we do now. Name something that doesn't have ads... A newspaper? A magazine? TV commercials are ads.
I personally feel in these economioc times, sometimes we have to make choices. One of them could be what services we have from Comcast. If I couldn't afford what I pay each month, you can be sure I would be canceling or cutting back on some of them. Comcast is a business like any other business and have stock holders that they must answer to as well. I am not defending Comcast, just playing devil's advocate here.
I AM a Senior citizen as well, living on a fixed income.

My husband and I were just reviewing our bill this morning. We had called Comcast last year and said we wanted a better deal so the guy said the lowest he could go would be 45.00 for the Digital Starter Service. After about 3 months the bill had increased again. I called Customer Service and was told every 3 months it would raise 5 dollars until back to normal price. I should have cancelled then, but we didn't get around to it. We are very disappointed with the programming options, even though the Comcast rep on this site said price increases are to due increased programming options. There really is not anything good to watch and we pay all of this money for it? We went to Costco yesterday and signed up with Dish and we will be saving $300 this year alone, get a $100 Costco gift card, and after the year promotional price we will still be paying less than we are for Comcast. Dish is a 2year agreement with the promotional price for only the first year, but, as I said we will still be saving a tremendous amount. I logged onto my account this morning to start the process to cancel, saw my bill was $93. Last month my bill was 87.94, the month before it was 84.15, so my bill has increased $9 in 3 months. That's a $3/month increase. Glad we swithched to Dish.
* Please be careful of DirecTV, make sure they bill you properly because they overcharged us on what their promotional price was supposed to be.

A lot of us are in an area or are renting where we do not have much of a choice about internet and cable television. Unfortunately Comcast is the only game in town...

We are in the same boat, unfortunately for internet. I know that you can get satellite internet and I'm going to check into it soon. Their prices when I checked about a year ago, weren't much higher than what I have to pay Comcast now. It's a thought!

Reading over some of these posts today after I posted my first one yesterday, I was reminded of a few other things so I thought I'd include them.
A couple of times every week we receive mail from Comcast offering to bundle our services. Why do they feel it necessary to waste so much? Once a month is plenty, if that's even necessary. I toss them in the garbage now before I even open them because they are always the same thing. If I wanted to bundle I would but I just keep getting ticked off at such waste. (DirecTV probably mails us stuff 4 times a week but they still owe me money and I haven't seen THAT in the mail.)
When we joined we payed $45/month and when our promotional period ended our bill had tripled, over $100 for just cable service. That's why the phone call telling them we wanted a better deal I mentioned in my last post. Remember, the deal they gave us but started increasing again without notifying us. We had to call them to find out why?
And, as sad as it is, people are told how to put parental controls and blocks on their services. I understand when someone gets a bill for movies their kids ordered or they even accidentally ordered, but that's what the controls are for and you can't blame Comcast if they won't refund for movies because they have probably heard every story out there. Usually they will come up with some kind of compromise, though. If you have parental controls on your tv or internet-USE THEM, THAT"S WHAT THEY ARE FOR.

You guys are a trip !!!!!! LOL !!!!
03-26-2012 06:58 PM
And I`m not talking about CC ALL THE POSTS !!!! You need a grip on this company and just deal with it or move on...been there and done that with them !!!

Keisha,
As per your post Customer Service IS NOT AVAILABLE 24/7. I have been trying to call for two months after hours and have been unable to contact anyone from Customer Service. I get a recording that informs me to call back during business hours. I had a price increase on my account of over $25 dollars a MONTH! I am considered a valued customer and I have had nothing but problems with Comcast from day ONE! I have continued to stay with COMCAST because I live in a rural area and for the longest time, it was the only service available in our area besides dial-up, which the services I am receiving from COMCAST are about the same as dial-up. As soon as I get through to customer service, I am closing my COMCAST account and calling AT&T for their dial-up. This is ridiculous!

I am so agree with you, no atter how much they raise price it's just never enough for them, they will have excuse for anything every time they make your bill high, they trained to do that. I lived in CA and I paid $24month for the high speed internet when WA state comcast trying to tell me that $39.99 is what I should pay as good deal. Totaly BS !!! I get my laptop and sit in Starbucks for free.
07-14-2012 06:03 PM
Yeah, and they keep doing it...So be careful also if your on a promotion. They increase that too and then your stuck with an outragious bill. I've had this happen several times. Ready to leave and go some place else.
GOOD LUCK.
07-15-2012 10:02 AM
Yes! Their prices are rediculas and as soon as Verizon is in my area I'm gone.
07-19-2012 07:19 AM
What can we do about this? It is ridiculous they think they can constantly increase price, reduce service, and not provide us with input or listen to us. Class action lawsuit? Or everyone can cancel. My bill went up almost 50%! This is robbery.
07-19-2012 10:19 AM
If it doubled it went up 100% If it increased by half of what it is now, thats 50%
07-19-2012 01:18 PM
You can notify FCC and your state Attorney General. They said that they notified people in bills of the increase. However, it wasn't clearly stated and certainly not for me people who pay online.
08-08-2012 12:25 PM
Yeah seriously - 30% increase on my bill. Gee, wish my salary increased at that rate. Must be nice.
08-09-2012 08:58 AM
After one year my monthly bill changed from $51.90 a month (for basic basic cable + HSI) to $65.39, a 25%+ increase.
There went my 2% COLA.

Once FIOS comes to my area, Comcast is history! I am getting increased in my bill for no apparent reasons. No changes or adjustments been made. (I only subtracted HD, and added a regular digital converter) because it was getting too expensive. Now I see a price hike of $30???
09-06-2012 01:01 AM

09-06-2012 04:51 PM
My internet bill has gone up $30 a month since 7/12 for no apparent reason. Can someone explain this?

You will need to call 1-800 comcast and ask someone in the Billing Department. The Help Forums are monitored primarily by other Users like yourself. We do not have access to your Account information and cannot help you.

Easy for you to say. Some of us (like me) only have Frontier as another option, while others may not have any options.

Yes very easy for you to say, my only option would be Dish! Not happening! especially with the way we get wind storms. my currect cable company is the only option - they have the monopoly at this moment,
so there is no other option! So to answer your reply - Jeezz it is that hard!
