I will definitely keep the detailed receipt in a safe place . There is no way they are getting more money out of me.

Just got my bill today with the unannounced accross the board rate hikes. My Internet is now $4 more per month. Overall my bill increased 7.2%.

Same here. This is infuriating. If I had a choice and Comcast wasn't a gd monopoly, I would switch companies in a second. I absolutely detest this company and the way they gouge their long-time customers. It is sickening.

RATE HIKE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE !!!
I ALREADY SIGNED UP WITH AT&T U-VERSE BUNDLES FOR ONLY $ 128 DOLLARS A MONTH WITH TV 130 CHANNELS, INTERNET SERVICE, HOME PHONE AND INTERNATIONAL CHANNEL, COMPARE TO COMCAST BEFORE WAS $ 165 THEN BECAME $197.00
ARE THEY CRAZY LIKE WE CAN'T FIND ANOTHER SERVICE PROVIDER...

Dish/Direct TV are great until it's windy, snowy, rainy or cloudy. I am NOT defending Comcast, but satellite is even worse. I wish Verizon FIOS would be in all areas ... that is the way to go if you can get it.

Quote from mrobles38...
".......And by the way, there is no benefit to the cost increase. Comcast didn't do anything to better their service, it was a cost increase to support their bottom line. It had nothing to do with benefiting the customer. That is exactly what I was told by the comcast rep when I called about my new bill. It was the cost of doing business..."
Well, Comcast recently reported huge windfall profits in Dec 2011 quarter PRIOR to the recent price hikes in Jan 2012. So I don't believe their excuse for the cost increase is to maintain the bottom line is true. Comcast just want to gouge the pockets of their current customers.

I agree with you 100%. My husband and I have more problems with the internet not working about 30% of the time. It runs so slow and when trying to type an e-mail to someone, the system freezes up and you have to save the e-mail as a draft and wait about 15- 20 minutes for the system to unfreeze. When you call about the problem, the rep tells you that there is nothing wrong. Well there has to be something wrong.
Also we don't even have any of the premium channels and we're paying $137.00 a month for just internet, basic cable and phone.
What a ripoff.

slow and a rate hike. Nice........

I helped a friend switch to uverse. He loves it and we saved in total about $95.00 a month, paying $145.00 a month. 6 months later his "promotions" ended and now he's paying $239. Ouch!
02-21-2012 02:13 AM
I call every month because every month there is something different or new on my bill. I was told there is now a link for "current customer promotions". We tried to use the current customer promotion but I would have lost way too many channels, my DVR and only the main room in my house would have full access to comcast. The other rooms get only channels 2 thru 22.

I have DirecTv in Northern Illinois and never lose my signal in snow. If the dish is tuned perfect there rarely should be an issue. Mount the dish where the snow can easily be brushed off and you will never have a problem.

I have been a Roadrunner customer and then converted to Comcast for last 11 years. A few years back Comcast raised my rates on Cable TV, so I tried to negotiate and they were not helpful so I dropped my television portion and just used Comcast for internet.
Recently, my internet bill grew to $75 which is excessive, especially since they will offer new customers much better deals. I spoke to retention and they told me that if I did not think it was a good value then look somewhere else. So as of today, I am cancelling my Comcast service. Their marginal cost is much lower than what they were charging me, and they also did not have any acquisition costs, but becuase they wanted to milk me for a little more margin I have now switched to Uverse.
I have had to switch from my comcast email to gmail but now that I have gone through that "switching cost" I will not stay with any company if they don't negotiate there rates to keep me.
I will comeback possible at some point but only for as long as the promotional price lasts.

I have Comcast for last 3 years and recently saw $75 per month bill charged in my auto pay credit card since Jan 2012.
They don't notify when promotion is ending and charge full price.
Horrible...
Looking at Qwest promotion deal for $30/month for 6 months.

This is my 4th year with Comcast and the increases have been enormous.
Started out in 2008 with a 6 Mbps Internet connection for $19.99+tax. Promotional rate ended 6 months later and i was parked at $29.99+tax. In 2010, this was increased to $44.99. Downgraded to a 1.5 Mbps connection for $29.99+tax.
Added TV (Basic Cable) in late 2010. Bill went up to $45+tax. 3 months later, Comcast again hiked the rates to $50+ tax. Bought my own modem and router, reduced the rate by $5, monthly bill again came to $45+tax.
Feb 2012-Second rate hike from Comcast in less than 12 months. Rate increased from $45 for basic TV and Internet in Jan 2011 to $53 for basic TV and Internet in March 2012.
Talking to Verizon, can't digest a 20% increase for the same services in 15 months.
Shame on you Comcast-you are going down.

Where do you live? The cost of comcast in Atlanta isn't anything like you pay. I wonder what the difference is?
03-18-2012 11:59 AM
Hey, yeah, I just got my bill, and it increased $15 for the Digital Preferred Double Play. And, of course, no notification about the increase! I'm thinking if we all stay outraged and loud enough, Comcast will have to back down. Just think about it--like Netflix/Qwikster and Bank of America's ATM fees! Power to the people!!!! Who's with me?!
03-18-2012 02:59 PM
Your bill might of only went up $15 but mine went up $22 and that is outragious. I do not understand why they want to keep raising the prices. If they would stay one price they might keep some of the customers that they already have and get more back... Need to listen to the people that pay their way in this business.!!!!!!!!!!

I just wanted to let you all know that I sent an email to brian_roberts@comcast.com. He is one of the CEO's at Comcast. I voiced my opinion at 2:03 pm EST and received a call on his behalf by 4 pm EST. Email him with your concerns and see if we can change their minds about all of these rate hikes.

My bill for 300 channels with ethernet and phone bundle was $372 and some change in California. Further, I could never renegotiate anything better than a $25.00 "rebate" in spite of great deals elsewhere. It is impossible not to spend four or five hours trying to find someone to deal with, if you succeed and the service isn't as good as it was and the phone personnel are appalling in my area. The service techs are great, but no wonder everyone I know is switching!

Just sent an email to Brian Roberts. Thank you for the info.

Just received my bill today and saw that there will be yet another increase. Okay, when I read the increase a few months ago I was "ok" but now. NO WAY!!!! ATT has been hounding me for their service. I'm going to let them talk to me about their service.

Periodic rate increases can be expected when a company such as Comcast financially over extends itself with its purchases of NBC, Universal Theme Park, sports stadiums, movies, 4G wireless, Internet service, home security, movie ticket processing, Web publishing, TV-On-Demand, a food processing company, and Plaxo.
Comcast's telephone customer service has been reduced to automated services and if you want to speak to a human at one of their satellite offices, there will be a $2.00 charge.
Comcast and other cable television companies are not considered a utility and are therefore unregulated by your state.
It seems when you reduce your level of service to meet your monthly budget, Comcast finds a way to increase some other service you are receiving to get that money back.
Dish Network and Direct TV are starting to look attractive.

I wanted to put my take on this as well. I only have the net becuase we use that for eveyrthing. I was paying about 45 a month because of a year promo. It lasted a year and I was very happy with it. The year ended as all things must and my bill went up to 65. I was shocked but it was manageable. Now mind you, I paid 65 for one month. I look at my bill today and it says 80 o.o That is a big increase just for net and blast. I was ok with 65. Not satisfied but ok. I cannot do 80. There is no way. I guess its to huddle house I go for now on. OH and I tried calling but they were all tied up (i wonder why) so i chatted with a nice person online. When I quested her about it this was her response:
In today's challenging economic environment Comcast continues to add value to our products and make technology and service improvements. However Comcast, like many other companies, continues to experience increasing business costs, including rising programming expenses.
Well now I guess that answers everything. OH and she told me that I would find the notice of increase on page 3 of 6 of my bill. Well its nice that I got that little shocker at the time that it was due!
