Rate increase

As stated before, Comcast made another rate increase without any notification in the statements that I received.

I thought they were required to give us preliminary information about rate increases with their statements??? Are cable companies required to apply with the government or is that gone since deregulation???

I do not remember seeing anything about another rate increase or why it is necessary.

Re: Rate increase

I usually see them in my local paper.  Its probably necessary because everything is going up.

Re: Rate increase

Comcast still needs to notify customers of any rate increase several months in advance so that customers can decide whether to continue or cancel their subscription expecially customers who have bundled plans.

Hiking rates without notifying customers is just outright deception.

"We're a monopoly so we can get away with it" is your likely response.

Re: Rate increase

We experienced a 100% increase in our Comcast bill this last month. I agree. This company uses the public airwaves and it seems to me that there should definitely be some sort of restriction on the ability of a corporation to levy such onorous increases when they ar using public airwaves. We are totally disgusted with deregulation and with the arbitrary nature of this increase. $144 to $240 from one billing cycle to another. Good Lord.  We plan to seek another provider. I think this is a case for Consumer Protection.

Re: Rate increase

I just opened my bill...$25.00 increase in my bundle from last month, with NO prior notification.  Then I tried to look on the website for a new plan offered to existing customers and the website said I am a secondary user on the account, and I am not authorized to make account changes.  I AM THE ONLY ONE ON THE ACCOUNT!!!!!  Time to start looking elsewhere for service.

Re: Rate increase

There is a difference between a pricing increase, and a promotion expiring.

Rate increases we always publish at least a month in advance on your paper bill.  Promotions expiring are generally not put in the bill.

It is hard to help with billing here because I cannot access your account billing, but looking at the prices being mentioned here, the 29.99 to 49.99 was a promotion rolling to the 2nd part after 6 months, not a rate increase.  The 4.04 could be anything from a ppv to a 411 call, you would have to check your bill to see why the price was different.

Re: Rate increase

It was not a promotion expiring, I am years past my promotional period.  My bundle went from $114.99 to $139.99.

That is the exact pricing change amount for a triple play promotion going from year 2 of the promotion to standard price.  You would have to contact the billing department to confirm, but it sounds like a promotion roll off.

Rate increases are generally much smaller. Like modem rentals going from $5 to $7 last year Feburary, or additional boxes going to $8.95 from $7.95.  Typically when your bill goes up by more than $10 a month, it was a promotion ending.  The billing department would be able to tell you exactly what happened.

Re: Rate increase

It does seem amazing that my bill seems to increase every 3 months. I wish, I could find out the rate plans on the Comcast web site, I guess all of this information is secret. Interesting that a communication company doesn't want to openly communicate about there standard rates. I am really tired of calling to get clarification about my rate plan. Please, just leave my rates along for 6 months, instead of increasing my bill every 3 months, I am tired of calling. I think basic premium, with the slowest intranet speed should not cost me over $135 a month or $1620 a year - WOW! I will start shopping providers.

Re: Rate increase

[ Edited ]

My rate went up without explanation. I complained and they sent me this long explanation on why their programming expenses went up, which makes no sense to me because I don't receive cable, just internet.

When I first signed up for Xfinity, they had a sheet that listed all their rates. It was online too. Now, there's no list. I certainly didn't receive anything a month before or during or even afterwards, when I complained, that listed their new rates. So this is some new policy to hide their rate increases and sneak them onto customers' bills.

Which is just bad management, plain and simple. Just look at the complaints on this message board. People aren't complaining about the increased rates so much as they are complaining about the increase happening without warning or explanation.

Explanations are free. They could have had happier customers without spending any money. Whoever it was in Comcast management who made this decision should get a severe talking to and a warning in his employment record!

Re: Rate increase

As soon as I saw the new bill, I changed to Frontier and Dish Network.  Similar @ about $100.00 a month savings.  Don't complain, just move on.

Some of us don't have that option where HSI is concerned.

Re: Rate increase

$25 per month jump in my "bundled" cable-internet-phone.  That's $300 freakin' dollars a year.  My montly Comcast bill is now around $200 a month.  That's it.  I'd already been fed up with the $2-$5 jumps I'd see every few months.  Time to give Verizon a call.  The H*** with Comcast.

My rate goes up from $44.99 in May to $55.17 in June and I checked the statement and find no explanation about it.

And you believed it? Competition will tell you anything, even if it is isn't true, to get you to switch. (I have no clue if what the Frontier rep told you is true or not)

Example of this: AT&T telling Comcast customers they can switch to AT&T and still keep their Comcast email addresses. People find out this is not true when they cancel Comcast,  switch to AT&T and find out their Comcast mail is no longer available.

And now you expect us to think Comcast truthful.
