Services in "XF Bundle"

Trying to find out the service bandwidth and speed for the Xfinity package 'bundle' I have. I am told by the billing department that this information is not available on the web site as to what's included in the bundle. Looking for the specs on the particular service provided which, I was told, is the internet service "up to 12MB/s."

Can you provide that specifc info?

We signed up for the Preferred XF Bundle two months ago and it included the following.

Digital Preferred

Video On Demand

Included Video Equipment

Digital Voice Unlimited

High Speed Internet (15MBPS download and 2MBPS upload speeds)

I always check the speeds at speedtest.comcast.net and speedtest.net .

Re: Services in "XF Bundle"

In my case the Preferred XF bundle includes (at least according to what I was told, not as completely described as you broke it down):

  1. Digital Preferred with access to OnDemand
  2. Video Equipment.
  3. Internet Service.
  4. Digital Voice.

In addition, the bill also includes:

  1. HD Technology Fee (HD Cable drop)
  2. Additional Outlet
  3. Premium Service(s) in my case, two
  4. Voice Equipment (modem)
  5. Universal Connectivity charge
  6. Regulatory Recovery Fee
  7. Tax

As to speed testing, Comcast's Speedtest checker is at least 10% better than Speedtest.com and doesn't take many factors into account that seriously degrade the speed performance of residential user service:

  • Multiple users on the same service (on a router)
  • Multiple users' activity in the same neighborhood (shared service)
  • Uploading activity (one person uploading while others are using download, see #1 above)
  • Differing degraded modems for new service provifioning (docsis being the latest technology)
  • Service failure

I suppose you get the idea.

Rog,

My statement used to show the speed tier for my Internet Speed, but for a very long time now, it only lists it as the Performance Service.  That is true on my paper bill as well as on viewing the details online.

I think the OP would need to call to find out what the acxtual speed tier is supposed to represent.

I think though, if you click on products>Internet at the top of this page it does list the various tiers that are available with different packages.  But note the prices may NOT apply to you as an excisiting customer.

You've made my point for me, Carole! I think the site should explicitly state all facets of the connection to the web supplied (or as practical to avoid spammers) at the minimum, e.g., publish your specs. Other providers do.

Re: Services in "XF Bundle"

It used to tell you the speed tiers for the various packages. I just checked them and speed is no longer mentioned. Once again Comcast took a step backwards when they removed that information.

Re: Services in "XF Bundle"

Yes, well the situation is that it's UP TO... and in my opinion due to recent 'improvements' (read speed limits) Comcast wants to have the customer pay for only the speed they purchase and not more than that, regardless of upload seed. What they really did, I am told, is to LIMIT the bandwidth to what you pay for.Screen Shot 2012-06-13 at 18.16.48 .png

Take a look at an actual SpeedTest run history the earlier results happened during an upload at the same IP. You can see the slow-down to DL speed and upload speed while another computer pushed a file out on this IP.

My download speed goes to the ground when I upload a large file at the same time... Note the previous two readings. I contend that there is no good reason except for the filtering now being done that this should occur. And it didn't happen before. I do not consider this an accident. My router is Gig E on the network side, and all switches as well. In the real world this can easily replicated.  Screen Shot 2012-06-13 at 18.16.00 .png

Re: Services in "XF Bundle"

I was told by the technician who came out that (due to speed capping) the bandwidth is DRAMATICALY REDUCED when uploading large files, his empahsis. The high speed download is supposed to drop off like that. Get used to it.

Really?? I hope that Verizon shows up soon in this area as they have in others... I'm so outta here.
