would love to have it in Long Branch, NJ as well but we don't even have this overhyped xfinity heaven of HD chanels yet...
03-06-2011 05:08 PM
Agreed!
03-06-2011 10:15 PM
I'd love to see this here in the Twin Cities of Minnesota.

+1 for Olympia, WA. We get the non-HD version, but it's frustrating when everything SAYS it's in HD, but it's not...

Please click this link to see what asking Comcast to add BBC America does...nothing...
04-10-2011 07:54 PM
And in Colorado Springs. But then, who DOESN'T want BBC America in HD?
04-18-2011 12:30 PM
Why do we have to fill out another form to request a channel when we've already done so right here? Is the process more important than the wishes of your customers? Here's an idea: have the programming department read these pages to understand what we want rather than look for a needless form.

Because nobody here has any influence on adding channels.
04-18-2011 06:36 PM
BBC America is back on OnDemand. Further, some shows are available in HD. Not as good as a full-time BBCA HD, but better than nothing.
04-22-2011 01:37 PM
Seriously. Lots of BBC fans in Seattle... can't we get the HD feed? ![]()
04-26-2011 07:19 AM
BBC HD added overnight in SE Michigan channel 384.
Actual channels added on my system in Marysville:
HUB 383
BBC America 384
Outdoor 709
GSN 710
Cooking 711
DIY 712

I'm fairly certain BBC America isn't available in HD On Demand in my area. Last time I checked it wasn't and the Xfinity app shows no episodes available in the HD category for Doctor Who. SD versions are avaialble, but not HD.
04-27-2011 09:16 PM - edited 04-27-2011 09:17 PM
Pete, that's great news! I'm jealous as he|| but happy for ye. I'd be pretty stoked about that DIY channel too!
...lucky...
05-01-2011 12:23 PM
Chicago Area too! I would watch BBC America way more often if it was available in HD.
05-17-2011 09:33 PM
We seem to get sporadic HD on demand for BBC America...the first two new Who eps this year were availiable next day, while subsquent eps seem to take week. Would love to get it available as a channel though.
06-08-2011 06:21 PM
Any word, Comcast?
06-11-2011 06:37 PM
With duplicate HD channels (CNN HD twice, MSNBC HD twice), how's chances of removing the duplicates and adding BBCA HD?
06-11-2011 07:42 PM
Duplicate channels don't require extra bandwidth -- the box simply maps the same frequency to multiple channel numbers. Eliminating them would not free up bandwidth.

... and Troutville, VA...

Just rebumping this thread since Doctor Who starts again on Saturday night and still no BBC HD (at least not in the San Francisco Bay area). Are you sure we can't dump one or two sports channels to pinch this network in? I mean at last count there are at least 53 different sports channels available in this line up. I pay for those. I don't want those. I want BBC America. Come on already....
08-22-2011 01:47 PM
Please Comcast Top Gear (BBC) not USA. This should have been one of the first HD channels we got. It would be nice if you would add this to the line-up NorthEast. Thank you.![]()

We're due to get BBCA-HD Sept. 20 in Seattle. They're cutting some redundant premium movie channels.
08-22-2011 01:54 PM
Well, glad to see someone getting it, though that is a bit late for Doctor Who even if I do get it. And sorry sports fans...wasn't knocking having lots of sports options. But there are a lot of channels that just sit with nothing on til there is a pay per view event. i realize this probably takes up much less bandwidth than an HD channel with 24 hours of programming a day, but still...it's aggrevating.
08-22-2011 03:36 PM
Chicago is getting BBCA-HD Aug 24.
08-22-2011 06:43 PM
Also, it may be available OnDemand, although it may take a few days for episodes to appear. By me, it's under 'HD OnDemand\TV Networks\BBC America'.
08-22-2011 07:28 PM
Good point -- they've actually started to put some decent stuff On Demand (e.g., Dr. Who and Top Gear).
08-25-2011 09:17 PM
I'm enjoying BBCAHD right now!
08-26-2011 01:43 AM
Need Dr. Who in HD. Please bring BBC HD to Albuquerque, New Mexico!
08-27-2011 03:38 PM
When will Comcast of Garden State, NJ receive BBC America HD? Also would like to see "Fox Movie Channel" and "Boomerang" added. My kids hate Cartoon Network.
08-28-2011 08:58 AM
In some areas, Fox Movies is part of the "Sports and Entertainment" package.
People have been asking about Boomerang for years. TW must be asking for tons of money to carry it, or Comcast has something against it.
08-31-2011 11:41 PM
Dr Dalek,
That link was only to one thread about BBCA. I participated in one back when Torchwood was running and the posts and responses wre pretty much the same. The thread ran for well over a year and I guess people just dropped out from frustration.

WarEagle57,
do you know if Seattle's date means anything at all for Oly Comcast? Seems like last time we got a batch of new HD channels it was shortly after Seattle did...
09-01-2011 11:57 PM
I haven't heard anything about Olympia.
09-03-2011 12:55 AM
09-19-2011 02:23 PM
It's very frustrating to have a brand new LED TV and Dr who is still not in HD! BBC is the one prime channel we got because we watch it all of the time! I love Dr Who and my husband is addicted to Top Gear. We need HD!
09-20-2011 11:36 PM
My bill last month said BBC America in HD was coming to Digital Starter on 9/20 on #647, which is today. Yesterday my TiVo told me it was a new channel (along with some other changes). Today my Tivo told me the channel was deleted. Of course I can't get it. (Kirkland WA 98033). So where is it exactly? So close and yet so far.
09-20-2011 11:53 PM
Same thing with TiVo and BBCA-HD in Bellevue. It hasn't shown up on the Motorola box -- let's hope it's merely a short delay.
09-21-2011 12:23 AM
Somebody has screwed up. The Chat folks have no idea there was supposed to be a change-over. Someone forgot to throw the switch. The other changes haven't happened either. It is still Tuesday for another 3 hours though, but my hopes are fading fast.
Someone told TiVo about this change too, not just you and me. Then they also told Tivo to pull the change today, which is disturbing.
09-21-2011 10:21 AM - edited 09-21-2011 10:22 AM
Checked this morning, no BBCA on 162 or 647. It would be nice if a moderator would comment on what's up.
Thanks,
Looking for BBCA in Everett WA.
09-21-2011 11:57 AM
Check 162 again -- I still have BBCA-SD there. It looks like TiVo rescinded all the guide changes that had been expected from Comcast yesterday.
09-21-2011 09:11 PM
I called the Redmond office: they postponed all the changes to October 4th. No reason was specified.
09-21-2011 09:18 PM
Nice of them to let everyone know. Comcastic, as usual. ![]()

I woke up this morning to find BBC America HD on channel 518.
Monday I noticed a boatload of new HD and other channels. BBC America was not one of them. It wasn't there yesterday.
Comcast has really surprised me on this one-who would have thunk that my mid-size market would get it before some of the larger markets.
3 other new ones were added overnight.

It would be a pleasant surprise to see that here in Wilmington, Delaware. And now the question is, if they can offer BBCA-HD to SOME areas, why not all of them?
09-22-2011 10:23 PM
Available bandwidth and priorities.
09-22-2011 10:49 PM
Just spoke with a Customer Service rep who asserted that BBC America will be available in Seattle on October 4th...on channel 647.
I asked why COMCAST couldn't notify their customers via the messaging function on the DVR/Tuner that several new channels(BBC HD among them) will be available starting on the 4th, rather than just using it to pimp PPV fights or other trivia. Rep said she didn't know why an announcement like that couldn't happen and she would pass it up the chain-of-command.
We'll see what happens on the 4th......I making a note in my calendar!
