Cable Box

I disconnected the incoming cable wire to tighten it.  Cleaned the central wire a little.  Rescrewed tightly.  Now I get everal channels in spanish, which used to be in English, and lost sound on two other channels.  How to fix??

Re: Cable Box

Depends on the box.

If it is a DTA press the LANG button on the DTA remote.

If it is a full set top box check the Audio settings on the box menu to make sure SAP mode is set correctly.

Also check the SAP settings on the tv's menu itself.

When you reconnected the cable box it could have gotten a errounous signal making the box think it is in SAP mode and is broadcasting the Spanish feed for those channels that have one.

Re: Cable Box

DTA? LANG? SAP?   This is a small black TV modem.  Mode DC50Cu.  Has no reset button.  The main modem/box is fine.  This runs a TV in the back room with minimum service.  But all of a sudden, eg, FX is in spanish. E is silent.  A few other issues aso.

No, it's a DTA. Like commanguy says, the remote has a LANG button. Press it.

Re: Cable Box

DTA means Digital Transport Adapeter, a small black box that does not get the onscreen program guide, no music choice channels also.

SAP= Secondary Audio Program.

LANG=Language Button. With the DTA pressing that button switches the small box to using either the English or Spanish language.

The LANG button on the DTA(Comcast) remote should be to the right of the 0(zero) button on the remote keypad.

Re: Cable Box

OK. Pushed the LANG button.  FX came back in english.  One of the silent channels has audio.  Didn't check all the channels, but certainly cured the kids issue watching his show upstairs.  Well done and thanks. Will let u know tomorrow about the rest. Thank you, again.
