Recent bill says SOAP will be dropped. Wife is upset. No explanation of course from Comcase. Why?

Comcast isn't dropping it. It's shutting down. Disney Junior will be replacing it. Both are Disney networks (remember that Disney owns ABC).

From wikipedia
Disney-ABC announced that Soapnet is expected to cease most operations on March 22, 2012.

Ah, we did not see that. Thanks for the tip!

I am sure your wife is not the only one who may not know what has been going on. The decision to cancel soapnet was made by disney about a year and a half ago. There are many groups on facebook trying to save the soaps and soapnet. Please let me know if you would like more info.

Maybe the switch from Soapnet to another Disney channel was cancelled?

According to Disney, Soapnet is not going dark on March 23rd. They will be running both Disney Jr and Soapnet at the same time. If Comcast drops Soapnet like it says on my bill, then that was their decision to do so. Currently Soapnet is one of the few channels I watch on cable. If Soapnet goes, I'm gone too. I can watch Netflix and save myself some money.
I'm so disappointed in this move!

If anyone still gets SoapNet on/after March 23rd they will eventually lose it. It will "go dark" at some point.
The Disney Channel has confirmed a launch date for its new 24-hour preschool channel. Disney Junior that will replace SOAPnet on most cable and satellite systems at midnight on Friday, March 23. However according to TVG, “A handful of viewers will still receive SOAPnet after March 22, but only because a few cable and satellite deals with Disney are still being finalized. Once those deals are done SOAPnet will completely shut down.”
Comcast is one of the companies who have finalized a deal with Disney.
Enjoy Netflix because you certainly won't be watching SoapNet anywhere.

Your information is incorrect. SoapNet is not going dark on March 23rd. They just picked up new programming and announced their new line up for the Spring.
Comcast is replacing SoapNet but the channel will still be operational. Comcast made the choice to replace it with Disney Jr. Other cable companies such as FIOS and DirectTV have not. Comcast is behind the curve here...

My information is based on everything I have read regarding SoapNet. And it all states that it will eventually be shut down.
Yes, there will be some who will still the get the network if their cable system has not finalized any deals regarding Disney Junior. As they do finalize the deals they will lose SoapNet.
The definite closing date of March 22, 2012 was announced by Disney-ABC on January 9, 2012, with some systems retaining Soapnet until contracts for Disney Junior are finalized.

This has been in the making for two years now, and Comcast has nothing to do with the decision. Being upset with Comcast because Soapnet is shutting down is as silly as being upset with them because your favorite show got canceled. Soapnet is shutting down, and the effective date is still tomorrow. It's just that some cable and satellite systems haven't finalized a deal for Disney Junior yet. For those systems, Soapnet will temporarily continue until such a deal is reached. But whether you're with Comcast, FIOS, Dish or Directv, Soapnet will cease operations.
If you want to be upset with someone, be upset with Disney.
From Wikipedia:
Disney-ABC announced in 2010 that Soapnet would be closed in March 2012 and replaced with Disney Junior, which was the rebranding for the Playhouse Disney block on Disney Channel. Reasons for the closure of Soapnet are due to the network's low ratings, the cancellation of many soap operas, video on demand catalogs both via cable providers and Internet television providers such as ABC's Hulu, and digital video recorders reducing the need for a linear network devoted to the format. On July 28, 2011, soap industry sources listed the closing date as moving from January to a more non-specific late spring 2012 date, then later in 2011 to February. The definite closing date of March 22, 2012 was announced by Disney-ABC on January 9, 2012, with some systems retaining Soapnet until contracts for Disney Junior are finalized.
