By European standards, MLS is a second division league.  If the MLS bigots want to show me a quote from a top American player claiming that it is a first division league by European standards, I'll be willing to listen.  If all they have is the American flag and their egos, forget it.

From the guy who said, "People always complain." What a troll. This is about getting channels to watch soccer in HD, not how ignorant you can be, save that for 4chan.

I love my FSC-HD, too bad they don't show more MLS, watching EPL games from years ago is pretty pointless.

Re: FSC HD Fox Soccer Channel

Well, that's it. I'm done with Comcast (Chicago) and waiting years for them to come up with FSC HD. I kept calling them and calling them, but it seems like they don't have any intentions of getting it. And the fact that you pay extra for that package makes it even more ridiculous.

They are deaf to thousands of requests from many football fans to add a single tv channel in high definition. I don't care what the procedure is - Comcast have no excuse at all.

Got Directv installed yesterday and FSC looks beautiful in HD. And some other football channels too!

Re: FSC HD Fox Soccer Channel

Why are you waiting for GolTV now that they have lost their programing?  Watching dry paint in HD is not that much of an improvement over SD.

What you should be waiting for is for Comcast to place Bein Sport 1 & 2,  so you can watch the top two teams in the world playing in La Liga.

Re: FSC HD Fox Soccer Channel

How about why do you want FSC in HD? They lost there rights for Serie A and are about to lose there rights to the EPL. Basically FSC will only be showing the Argentine League and Gol TV will be showing only The Brazil League. Enjoy Comcast users.

Re: FSC HD Fox Soccer Channel

Yeah, now that FSC has lost a lot of TV rights I'm thinking I should focus on beIN sports.  Chances of Comcast adding beIN are slim to none.  Chance of Comcast adding beIN in HD....zero point zero.

Maybe I'll just be able to stream directly from them to watch Serie a and then I can drop the sports package altogether.

FSC has EPL TV rights in the USA through the 2013 season, so at least 1 more year of EPL on FSC HD. Enough Acronym's?!

Re: FSC HD Fox Soccer Channel

Your point about FSC probably about to lose the Premier League rights next year is certainly valid. I would not be surprised if Bein buys them for their collection. However, at least for now, FSC is essential viewing thanks to the Premier and the Champions League.

As for your prediction that in the future we will be watching Argentinean futbol in FSC vs Brazilian futbol in GolTV, don't even joke about it. I will get Bein whatever I have to do. With the exception of a few players you could count in one hand, all South American footballers worth watching play in Europe. My time is precious, I can't afford to waste time watching wannabes....

Re: FSC HD Fox Soccer Channel

Normally I wouldn't argue the possibility of FSC being sold.  But think about that for a minute.  Fox would essentially be transacting with Al Jazeera.  Why do I have the feeling Rupert Murdoch would not be keen to this transaction? :smileyhappy:

If beIN can't crack any of the major providers, it seems like they might want to make a run at buying GolTV.

Re: FSC HD Fox Soccer Channel

I agree that the easiest thing to do, what I would have done, is to buy GolTV.  But Al Jazeera.decided to do it the difficult way.... ?!?

As for buying FSC, i don't think they would want to.  If they take the Premier League rights and the Champions League... FSC would be dead.  Why would you buy an expensive corpse when you didn't buy a cheap one?

Re: FSC HD Fox Soccer Channel

Encouraging Comcast?  Hum...

The problem is that we need numbers.  My guess is that it would be easier to pressuare them to get Bein 2 (in Spanish) for the Latino package.  That's at least in the short term.

The challenge for even that to happen is that most people who want to watch La Liga are under the impression that they are going to be able to see it just like last season.  They have no idea that some radical changes have happened.  You can't protest if you don't know there is stuff to protest about!

My guess is that La Liga will have to start and these people will start hearing results of games and slowly start wondering how come GolTV or ESPN Deportes didn't show those games...  And then they will start digging and realize how incomplet the Comcast Latino package has become...

What about the non spanish speaker? It would not make sense to get the channel only in spanish...There is a lot of Italian soccer fans in the USA and I am sure they want to watch Milan or Juve every week. Those people will never buy a latino package...

Re: FSC HD Fox Soccer Channel

Hey, Seasoc,

I'm not saying that is what Comcast should do, I want you to see your Serie A in English. I'm saying that since, right now, Comcast is not providing Bein for anyone... the customeers that might have a chande to get Bein first (as Bein Sport -2) are the ones with the Latino package, many of whom, like me, got it to watch La Liga and the current two top teams in soccer.

If I were Comcast I would, of course, provide both Bein-1 & 2. That would be just the logical thing to do. But, in a logical world, when you are paying for several hundreds of cable channels you would think that one of them would include the very sports teams you want to watch.... but that would be in a logical world, in a Comcast world...

Re: FSC HD Fox Soccer Channel

So, I got my bill in the mail today, and it said effective 8/15 there will be three channels added: PAC 12-Bay Area (ch 433), PAC 12-Bay Area HD (ch 823) and PAC 12-national (ch 434). Effective 8/30 they will add ESPN Goal Line (ch 428).  Note that I'm located in Sonoma County, 45 minutes north of San Francisco.

Where is Fox Soccer in HD?  This is rediculous. Concidering how much I'm being racked over the coals for what I do get, I still can't get what I want.  EPL season starts in a week, and anything on FSC is going to look awful.

FSC HD Fox Soccer Channel

Unfortunately, I recently moved into a building in downtown Chicago where Comcast is my only option.  Apparently, I should have done some research before moving here; I never would have imagined that in one of the largest cities in the U.S., any cable provider would consider not offering FSC and FSC+ in HD.  I can't wait until my lease ends so that I can move to get away from this joke of a company.

It is ridiculous that we have to visit this forum to grovel to this company to try to convince them to add channels that should be available by default.

In my previous building, I had Directv and was perfectly happy to pay for the sports tier (plus the extra $15/mo for FSC+) in order to have access to FSC and FSC+ in HD.  The fact that this isn't an option in Chicago, a huge city with a ton of soccer fans, is a complete joke.

Comcast, if your customers are spending time on this website complaining about the channel lineup instead of sitting in front of their TVs enjoying your services, that is pretty good indication that you aren't adequately serving their needs.

Re: FSC HD Fox Soccer Channel

Fellow television watchers:
The city of Boston does not recieve Fox Soccer or GolTV in HD while surrounding communities that Comcast services do.  In March, I found some big wig email address and wrote him - his assistant promptly replied.  There's been no action here in Boston concerning the issues we have raised.  Now the landscape has changed and BEIN Sports is the new GolTV, starting Aug 15.  Today, I again wrote Mr. Robert Grove (see below, along with the other correspondence from March).  I will keep this forum posted.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Mr. Grove,
In early March I wrote you concerning the addition of Fox Soccer Channel and GolTV in the high-definition format for the city of Boston, MA.  Marc Goodman promptly responded saying, " We plan on finalizing this decision in the coming weeks." Not only has it been a couple of weeks, it's been a couple of months and still there's been no appreciable action taken by Comcast to hand down a decision as to whether or not Boston will continue to be deprived of 21st century broadcast quality for these two networks while many other Comcast communities - even those that border the city of Boston - receive these two channels in HD!
Comcast's two largest nationwide competitors carry these channels in HD.  There is only one company that can provide land-line service in the city of Boston, as I am sure you know - that company being Comcast.  Direct TV or Dish Network and Verizon have some sort of lame deal that allows them to operate here as well, but satellite service is not a viable option for many people in the city, and effectively creates a monopoly for Comcast.  Consequently, the people here do not get to enjoy the benefits that other Comcast subscribers/neighbors receive, and that creates a resentment that I am sure you can understand.  Comcast can forget about upgrading Boston, doing so at their own benevolence, because it's a sure bet that they have already won  the eyeballs as there is no direct competitor.  We know that there are major behind the scenes politics going on here in this city, that's how Boston works - one hand washes the other with lots of dollar bills; you do this, I'll do that for you; the mentality is not a secret - and, this leaves the people/your subscribers out in the cold when all they want is two pitiful tv channels to be broadcast in a definition representative of the 21st century technology that Comcast seems to pride themselves on delivering, not the 20th century fog we can recieve at this time.
Complicating this matter, now, is the fact that there is a new channel set to start broadcasting on August 15th that will render GolTV basically useless - the end is near for them - and the following year might also eat the heart out of Fox Soccer Channel as well.  As I am sure you know, BEIN Sport, has basically decapitated GolTV, and they are not even on the air yet!  Adding FSC in HD might appease us minions for now, but if Comcast really wants to shut us up and show its omnipotence,  make it a priority to add BIEN Sports - in HD, of course - to the channel line up.  Maybe you all could throw us pleebs here in Boston a bone and preview this channel before the rest of the country gets it.  We, here in Boston, are really embarrassed for Comcast that it's taken so long to get FSC and Goltv in HD, so long, in fact that soon one of these stations will be in the grave.  Hopefully we will not miss the birth of a new channel simply because we live in Boston.
So, in summation: Add Fox Soccer Channel in HD now, and add BEIN Sports in HD the following day.  GolTv in HD, dont even bother, it's like a sixth finger, useless.  Focus and just do it.  Let Boston enjoy your benevolence.  You might get an Employee of the Month award for doing this, and you'd surely get our thanks.

Sincerely,
Comcast Customer
R*

Initial Letter from March 2012

Mr. Grove,
Is it ever going to happen that we, here in boston, can get fox soccer channel in HD?  Same with GOLTV!!!!  Is it not embarrassing enough that it is not available in the channel lineup while your competitors carry it?  It's as if those two stations are mired in the twentieth century definition (TCD)!  we are twelve years into the twenty first century and every other sports channel - even the GOLF channel! wow - is in HD except these two?  What's more, is that other localities in the country with comcast receive these two channels in HD!!!!!  And here, in the boston area, you have a diverse group of citizens from every corner of the WORLD who are FORCED to watch these channels in TCD.  I mean, why even offer the channel in its current definition (HD with the sides lopped off, and fuzzy standard definition-like viewing conditions).  Would you all even consider those particular viewing  resolutions up to the standard you would expect of "xfinity" or comcast in general?  If it were my company i would be chagrined to offer that product, and if i did offer it i certainly would not be proud of it.  As a company, I am wondering, are you proud of the current product? Get the ball rolling! Dont just kick it down the road!

Sincerely,

R

Hi R –
Bob Grove forwarded your email to me for a response.  We’re looking at our options on the possibility of adding both of those HD channels later this year in the Boston area.  We plan on finalizing this decision in the coming weeks.  I’ve passed your feedback along to our programming team.  I’ll keep you informed on our plans if that’s helpful as well.
Thanks again for your feedback.

I stand corrected.

Boston does now recieve Fox Soccer in HD, since July.  However,  the customer service reps do not seem to know this as of yesterday when i called and asked for it.  A small battle won.  Now to fight for BEIN!

Well, jungle states gives a bad connotation.  I share your frustration.  Compared to Boston most of middle america ranges from merely tolerating to outright mocking soccer, save for their mostly Latin minorites.

Then again, we don't have a real soccer stadium thanks to one old cheapskate that wants to drive his retail revenues out in white elephant 495-land development.  It sucks.

Comcast seems to have accelerated including Foxsports HD and GolTV HD not that their values have been substantially diminished by BeIN Sport holding the broadcast rights to the most valuable contracts in the world of soccer.

The thread for asking Comcast to add beIN Sport has been up for only a week, has almost 70 posts, and no responses from Comcast at all.

I called to asked Comcast to consider adding BeIN Sport, and the rep took it down, but had no knowledge or info on the beIN Sport network at all.
