Fuel TV and the UFC?

Does Comcast plan to add FUELTV in the near future? I've read reports that FUEL and Comcast agreed to a deal back in 2008 but its not currently on my channel lineup. In 2012, the UFC plans to air alot of programming on this network and the popularity of the channel will increase significantly.

I've been lobbying our local Comcast office to carry Fox's Fuel TV for several years. Recently someone in the industry told me that Comcast doesn't carry Fuel-TV on ANY of it's systems. Is this true, and if so, why or Why Not? There are no Comcast-owned channels running only action sports, and you carry every other network owned by Fox, so why not Fuel TV? It's the only channel we don't get that i'm really wanting to have.

Re: Fuel TV and the UFC?

Don't wait for Comcast if there is a channel you need you should shop around to find the provider that meets your needs.

No one here would know if Fuel TV is ever actually coming.

UFC Moves 25% of Its shows to Fuel TV. I Need FUEL TV in San Jose, CA 95128

According to this link:

http://mmajunkie.com/news/26016/fuel-tv-to-become-ufc-programming-hub-2012-prelims-moving-off-facebo...

UFC will begin showing all of its prelim fights and TUF fights on Fuel TV. Fuel TV is not offered in San Jose, CA 95128. How do I get Comcast's attention to add this show to our lineup. I know they offer it to other areas. And I know a lot of people will be asking the same question as I have. I would hate to have to change cable providers just for Fuel TV.

Comcast please offer FUEL TV for us in San Jose, CA.

Thanks,

Karl

Re: Fuel TV

Thanks to Fox's deal to carry UFC programming, Comcast is about to see a mass exodus of people ditching Comcast to go to satellite companies in my area unless they pick up Fuel.  I know of hundreds of people in my area alone that will switch if thats what it takes. This is not a matter of seeing a couple fights.  This is major programming - 25% of their programming will be UFC.  check this out:

http://www.mmafighting.com/2011/11/09/every-ufc-fight-will-be-televised-in-2012-with-fuel-hosting-2-...

Comcast better get on board now or they're about to lose TONS of subscribers.

Glad to see people are already on top of this. I've previously emailed my request to Comcast to carry Fuel TV, but I was pretty sure it was going to fall on deaf ears. We need FUEL TV in Everett, WA. As an avid MMA fan, I will seek out other providers. Get on it Comcast.

Re: Fuel TV and the UFC?

Yeah I have been feeling the same way, I hated facebook fights but I would rather see them on my PC then not be able to see them at all w/o having Fuel.  Been a happy Comcast customer for almost 12 years, but this change could/will be a deal breaker.  I am already missing out on alot of fights that my brother gets on dish, not gonna miss out on UFC fights!

When will Comcast in Sarasora, Fl add FUEL TV?  How can someone request they do so? They are crazy not to as soon this station will be basically a UFC channel.

I'm with everybody else on this forum.  I want Fuel TV (specifically for UFC content),  but it is not available in my area.  If I have to, I will switch to satellite dish or CLICK!.  I am getting sick and tired of paying the rates that Comcast charges as it is.

Where do you live Gunzlo? Looking at the Fuel TV website, it doesn't include Comcast as one of it's listed carriers.

So if this is a Comcast help and support forum, on the Comcast website, where is the help and support from Comcast? Smoke and mirrors in typical Comcast style.

I definitely plan to cancel Comcast if we do not get it in my area (Indiana).  I've been a Comcast customer for quite a few years as well, and I have purchased every UFC PPV.  I really hope this is resolved by 2012.

Re: Fuel TV and the UFC?

I have been a fan of UFC for years giving spike views for every ultimate fighter and free event. I read that fuel will have 2000 hours of ufc footage aired on the channel and would love to have it.  Comcast has been awesome over the years but i would have to see if other providers had fuel tv unless comcast gets it. This would be awesome for any ufc fan and it will boost an already weak fuel tv channel.

Need FUEL TV in Eagan, MN ASAP or we are leaving Comcast, and so is everyone else in the neighborhood. Does COMCAST realize how big the UFC has become. I would not be surprised if everyone switches to Directv soon. Never have problems with not having certain channels with them, and if there is a problem (like the recent FOX dispute) they fix it right away. No Harm No Foul. Not having Fuel TV this weekend is just frustrating!!!! Get on it Comcast, and ASAP. If you have a deal with Fox then there is no reason why should not have FuelTV in your lineup, especially when I am paying for the highest package available.

Re: Fuel TV and the UFC?

From Wikipedia

Fox partnership

Fox will host regular, live UFC shows on network TV for the first time.

On August 18, 2011, The Ultimate Fighting Championship and Fox announced a major seven-year broadcast deal through the Fox Sports subsidiary, effectively ending the UFC's Spike TV and Versus partnership. The deal includes four events on the main Fox network, 32 live fights a year on Friday night on cable network FX, 24 events following The Ultimate Fighter reality show and six separate Fight Night events.

The first live event on Fox is scheduled to air November 12. The Ultimate Fighter will change formats and now be live and air on Friday nights on FX followed by a live fight card. Many of the preliminary fights before UFC pay-per-views and UFC Unleashed programming will be on Fuel TV. Additional programming begins in January, including live fights, pre- and post-shows, countdown shows, UFC Unleashed, UFC Primetime, the UFC Knockout series, Best of Pride and weigh-in specials.

Comcast has a terrestrial monopoly here (Port Murray, NJ Comcast hub) and I'm going to drop them like a sack of hammers if they don't pick up Fuel by the end of my billing cycle.

So apparently Comcast is aware enough of this thread to merge two separate threads on the same subject, but don't feel it's worth responding with any kind of comment whatsoever?

Awesome customer service... yet another reason to drop them and move to satellite.

[ Edited ]

I just spoke to a Comcast customer service Rep and he told me that the best way to get FuelTV or any other channel added was to get as many people as we can to go to the bottom of the page and click the Comcast.com Feedback link and tell them that you want it. I sent a rather long 1 telling them that if it's not added I will be switching to another that does carry it. So everyone please go give them some feedback and let them know we want FuelTV. Also ask everyone you know to do the same. He said if they get enough ppl asking for it "IN THE FEEDBACK LINK" they will try to get it.

Re: Fuel TV and the UFC?

Don't worry folks... Comcast for the most part has treated us demanding for Fox Soccer HD the same way they are treating you. So don't feel bad because others get the same. And that is very pathetic Comcast.

Re: Fuel TV and the UFC?

Please add Fuel TV to your channel lineup.  We are very happy with Comcast but also big UFC fans and would probably switch if you guys do not pick up this channel.  With the UFC programming being carried on Fuel TV starting Jan 2012 the demand for this channel is going way up.  Just do a simple google search of Fuel TV and Comcast to see all the demand for it out there.

Thank you

Like I mentioned in my earlier post everyone needs to go to the bottom of this page and click the "Comcast.com Feedback" link and overload them with requests. That seems to be the only way they consider adding a new channel is if they have enough people requesting a channel to justify putting the money up to get the channel. Apparently they don't check forums to see what people want. :smileyangry:

Re: Fuel TV and the UFC?

dreadspawn is correct that Comcast does not check these forums for channel requests.

The Channel request on the Feedback link is one method but since it also depends on how many requests they get per market service area will determine if they get the channel. That link doesn't guarantee Fuel would get added nationwide; i.e. Fox Soccer HD and the length of  time to get that added and the number of actual service markets that are receiving it and scheduled to receive it in the future.

Re: Fuel TV and the UFC?

I have done the math on this, as I wanted to figure out how likely is it Comcast will really pick up FUEL, because switching is a big pain and if they probably will add it, I don't want to do it.

These are some ballpark numbers...

Comcast has around 20% of total cable/satellite/fiber subscribers in US.  UFC PPV have wide range of PPV buys but ballpark its been a base of 300k and going back a year or so average closer to 500k-600k.  But if you look at the base of the hardcore fans, let's be generous and say its 500k.  That means on Comast, there are a total of 100k total hardcore UFC fans out of 20Msomething total subscribers.

All 100k of those fans generate in profit for Comcast annually about 62M (average revenue per subscriber x operating margin for cable), plus Comcast's cut of their PPV buys might be another 30M tops.  So around $90M profit for Comcast for all UFC hardcore fans they have.

FOX will want carriage fees for FUEL - Versus looks like its just under 30 cents per subscriber per month.  Let's say a new network not much content yet FOX is asking for 1/2 that for FUEL, 15 cents per subscriber on the digital tier.  Let's say that 15M of comcast's subscribers in total.  That's 15 cents x 12 x 15M = 27M/yr.

That's how much it will cost Comcast to add FUEL.  So Comcast isn't going to add FUEL unless they are going to lose more than 27M by NOT adding FUEL.

So, 27M / 90M = 30%

That means if Comcast calculates more than 30% of its hardcore UFC fans will drop Comcast and switch to a new provider, it will add FUEL.  If it think less than 30% will, then Comcast will let you all switch and lose your money.

The two big things that will change this is if FOX gets really tough with Comcast about bundling FUEL with its other networks and there is a new carriage agreement where they force FUEL down Comcast's throat, or if UFC gets a LOT more popular in the coming years and Comcast sees a lot more money being lost from UFC fans going to other networks.

So what do you think? Forget the threats, what % of UFC fans consistently buying the PPVs will really switch to fiber or satellite because of this?

Re: Fuel TV and the UFC?

Yes Comcast is planning on getting Fuel Tv. They were supposed to launch the channel on June 30th 2011, but something happened, and it didn't go thru for some reason. They are still planning on getting it beginning of next year for the Denver market. The Mountain regions already have Fuel Tv channel.

I have been trying to get Fuel TV added in South Bend, IN since the press conference for the UFC, but I haven't really gotten anywhere.  I hope that they decide to add Fuel TV to their line-up.  I am a big fan of the UFC and I think that Fuel TV would be a great addition to my current TV line-up.  If they decide against it, I'm just gonna have to go elsewhere for it.  I hope that they wise up and add this channel.  I don't think that it would be a good business choice to lose alot of customers and turn off many more for their services.  There are alot of UFC fans out there and alot of other companies to choose from.

I hope my recent request to add fuel TV get a better result than the HDnet request a while back.  Comcast needs to show some signs that they are listening to our request or I’ll spend my money elsewhere.

Re: Fuel TV and the UFC?

I agree with all ... Comcast needs to add Fuel TV unilaterally.  We saw the uproar and response with Versus and WEC (with occasional UFC programming), but missing out on live events as with those UFC Fight Nights shown on SpikeTV would be a huge disappointment to a very large fan/subscriber base.

That said, we need FUEL TV in the Denver market ASAP!!!  Please!!!

Except that FuelTV isn't offered in every market (regardless of paid sports entertainment package), you've solved the world's problems. FuelTV isn't available on Comcast in any form or fashion (or package) in all markets. Sad, but true.
