HD ACCESS FEE FOR TIVO

My latest issue now is after many hours on the phone, email and chat with CS, I am told that I need to add an $8.50 charge in order to get the HD channels. I have had HD channels for over a year but apparently THESE channels(461,462,463, BBCAHD, HIHD, MTVHD, etc) have an EXTRA charge. Nobody can point me to a comcast website that shows this charge. I have explained that I think they are confusing the $8.50 charge for and HD box for HD programming fee but nothing. Man my luck keeps getting worse.

HELP!

Re: HD ACCESS FEE FOR TIVO

The HD technology fee varies by market area, some area's are still on the old pricing where a HD box costs more per month than a SD box.  Many area's went to a new HD pricing last year where all full boxes are the same price and turning on the HD to all the boxes in the house are now one HD price.

The new HD pricing comes out cheaper for subs who had multiple HD boxes, but for subs who only had one HD box or cable card it ends up costing more.  Some of these area's are deploying all HD boxes even to SD subs, and when the times comes for the SD subs to want HD, they just add the HD code to their account without swtiching out equipment.

In my area the HD technology fee just went up form 7.95 to 8.95 on March 1.  Last year when the HD technology fee changed, it was listed on the monthly statement.  The HD technology fee is listed on the yearly price card included in the monthly statement about once a year.

It would not be on the national web site, as not all area's are on the new pricing.  If you can't find your local market pricing sheet on your past monthly statements, you can stop at your local office to pick one up.

Re: HD ACCESS FEE FOR TIVO

Thanks for the response but I am not using ANY box. I am using a cablecard with my tivo. Again I have many HD channels but not the ones I listed.

Re: HD ACCESS FEE FOR TIVO

yes but they will still charge you the fee as the cable card is technically considered an outlet, its a way for you to get the hd and they charge you for it, its not free everyone pays for it who has hd box or no box.

Re: HD ACCESS FEE FOR TIVO

Thanks again, last question is why are some HD channels included and not others?

if you get HD I believe you get all the HD channels that is as long as they are not premium pay channels like hbo cinemax showtime etc.   You might be happy about this.

Re: HD ACCESS FEE FOR TIVO

The problem is I am missing stuff like MTV, BBC, MGM, and the new HBO HD channels, I only get the original HBOHD. I am getting the sd versions of all the channels I am missing though including those I just mentioned.

there is no mtvhd or bbc hd and only one for each pay channel is in hd.  So even though you can get 12 cinemax and 12hbo and so on each only has one in hd, they main channel.  This is not just for you its for everyone.  I am in nj and I don't get those channels in hd.

Re: HD ACCESS FEE FOR TIVO

They may not be available in Jersey but in Houston, Tivo is showing them. BBCA is channel 730, History International HD is 729, MGMHD 700, G4HD 712, HBO2HD 461, HBOZHD 463, HBOSGHD is 464, HBOLAHD 465, HBOFHD is 466.

CS confirmed that these rolled out 7/19 and should be available in my area. Then they said not until September, then they said they need to "rebuild the account", then they said 24-72 hours, then, then, then. Today someone decided, OH you dont have HD, thats why you are not getting these channels.

I just upgraded to Digital preferred the other day, due to the rep telling me that I would be getting more HD channels.

Not quite true!.. MTV is now Palladia and it is indeed in HD. There are also several HBO HD channels, along with other HD premium channels that came in the last round of HD channel additions. Of course, this for the area I am in, Albuquerque, NM, your channels may differ.

No BBC HD here.

Re: HD ACCESS FEE FOR TIVO

My listing shows MTVHD as channel 630, currently looks like a Jersey Shore Marathon

Re: HD ACCESS FEE FOR TIVO

One local tech support rep...two problems addressed logically.

According to this tech rep, HD channels should NOT be charged extra. He explained that since I have a card capable of HD and I subscribe to a package that has HD channels, all channels that I subscribe to in SD that are available in HD should be available to me for NO EXTRA charge. He was very very adamant about this. I told him about my latest debacle with online chat telling me about an $8.50 HD Technology fee. He explained that this should be ONLY for households with MULTIPLE HD BOXES and would allow those account holders to pay a single fee for the multiple HD boxes, not the service. He then sent all sorts of signals to my card to get it to show all my channels. Still waiting but he mentioned to call out a technician if not working by tomorrow because he thinks its a faulty card.

He then went on to explain that the $2.50 tivo credit should show up automatically, and it did!
