I'm in Bellevue.  Are you using a cable box or QAM tuner?  I have no problem with either one.

Re: Has the channel lineup suddenly changed in washington? I cannot get any HD channels as of today

I'm in Edgewood, just north of Puyallup.  Not using a tuner, this is a new HD tv that does not require any kind of a box or tuner.  I had received these channels yesterday, but not today.  Now, the channels just all came back.

The frustrating part was that I engaged Comcast support via the live chat feature on their web site, and that person was not informed AND TOLD ME HE COULD NOT FIND OUT if there were any problems or lineup changes in my area, which is all I really wanted to know.  He checked what cable service I had and alluded to that these were HD channels and I needed the Digital package to see them.  Had to remind him several times that I could see them YESTERDAY.  To get to that point, it took over 45 minutes.

I then decided to call Comcast via phone, selected an option to discuss digital tv, and got a snotty representative who proceeded to lecture me on the upcoming digital changes and that I needed to subscribe to the Digital Starter package to see anything in the future.  Did she think that my voice sounded like a 2 year olds?  Must have.  I just said thanks but no thanks and said goodbye.

I then called Comcast back and selected the option to report a problem, and got a recorded message immediately that said that there was a KNOWN PROBLEM IN MY AREA, and they were working on it.   ARGH!  Why did the other 2 reps not have this information or did not tell me???  Were these other 2 just there to take advantage of a minor short-term problem to sell me more services that I don't want or need???

Well thanks for trying to help, good luck to you in Bellevue.

You shouldn't need anything other than basic cable to get the clear QAM channels.  You won't be able to get any encrypted channels, so unless your TV has cablecard capability you'll only get locals, plus a few others.  You can input your zip code here to see what channels you may get, and where to tune them in.
