I am trying to login to NBC Olympics live extra. I unable to select Comcast as my provider, either by the button or from the drop down menu, on my laptop. I don't know if it's a Comcast issue specifically, because I can login from my Itouch.
I am assuming some program or setting on my laptop is preventing the login. I had tried installing/reinstalling adobe flash, deleting cookies, and temporarily disabling anti-virus, etc.
Is anyone else having this problem? I would appreciate any advice . . .

Hello,
No problem I tried and it works.
07-26-2012 09:12 PM
It could be a browser issue itself. Comcast sites at times don't play well with certain browsers.
Also if using Internet Explorer try it in Compatability mode if that is not enabled. Or try Firefox, seems to work a lot on Comcast sites.
07-26-2012 09:17 PM
I've tried on IE, Firefox, and Safari. Same result on all of them
07-26-2012 09:33 PM
Have you checked the privacy and cookie settings in Internet Options? If either of those are set too high it may affect the response of the web site. Just an idea.
Also not sure if this will help but worth a shot for reading
07-27-2012 12:25 AM
Same for me as above, and tried Google Chrome as well... The Comcast button dosen't do anything when you try to click on it.

It seems to be a problem with Adobe specifically. I have seen some people having the same problem with other cable providers. You have to totally uninstall Adobe flash and all of it's files.
Uninstall from the Adobe website : http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-f
Follow all instructions. It did not work until I deleted all of the hidden flash files. Reinstalled Adobe, and now it will work on IE. Im still having problems with Firefox, but as long as something works.

Thanks for the update. Good viewing.

I cannot login and am unable to log into the NBC Olympics page! Have been trying for 5 days now to get past the first step at the NBC olypics page. Tried the uninstall ~ install of Flash...even hidden files. This did not work for me. I'm Win7 64 Firefox with all updates and plugins and add-ons(tried to also use safari & wind Expl. w no success)...everything is working well accept this. I have the appropriate Comcast tier to stream online. I cannot and am unable to stream the Olympics online as I said.
Been going back and forth with Comcast for a few days now...They even sent a technician to my home yesterday and he talked directly to a tech that was "Higher up" on his special walkie talkie, someone he knew. He said that there is a known problem but they are working to figure it out because this is all a new and they are hoping to have it ready by the time the olympics start. I checked around the web and their are numerous people having the same or similar problems some fix by uninstall-re-install flash many do not.
Unrelated to me, the Comcast employee at my house checked his app that he had downloaded a few weeks ago to his phone...just because he had not tried it yet, and there was an error and his phone prompted him to download a new version of the app because the one he had was not working. So there are bugs getting this all up an running...those are his words....I do concur!.
Today I called again and was on the phone for a total of 4 hours over the past few days I was polite. Today they finally told me that after talking to their "supervisor" that many people have called in about this problem "not being able to get past step 1 Comcast button & dropdown menu service provider pop up in the login at the NBC Olympics page" even when signed in to Comcast.net & Comcast Olympic page first. They said they were bundling (this morning Fri 11am) all the complaints and concerns to NBC because Comcast tech on phone said that the problem is with the NBC servers and they are "working hard to fix the problem". Well let's see I do have a Ticket# for the "escalation" and "fix" ...thank God I don't have to re-explain this to another phone tech and tell them the difference between Comcast streaming and NBC streaming. I seem to have to explain it 2 or 3 times before (I think) they "understand". So either this is really an NBC problem or it really is a Comcast problem being passed on...we shall see. I will not be happy if I cannot get this working...in fact i'll be irate. Any help to spread the word and get things "fixed" would be appreciated.
Thank You

I just called Comcast again 5:10pm EST Today Fri July 27 (Sorry for Dbl Post) They checked into my Ticket #/Open Work Order....and Customer Service Rep said that she
"talked to technical support and that they have several agents working right now to fix this known issue & to please give them another 24 hours, It may take less than that but it should be fixed by then and I can keep tryiing to login over the next 24 hours to check"
We shall see...I do believe...Ughh!

Here are some things that have worked for other customers having trouble getting to the http://www.nbcolympics.com/online site:
Try to login again.
If you are stil having trouble, give us a call at 1-800-COMCAST.
A subscription to Digital Starter (or above) is required to be able to access the site.

I think I may have stumbled onto something. I'm on a Mac and was having the problem of nothing happening after clicking on the Comcast button when it was asking you to specify your cable provider. I did everything that ComcastTeds said, and it still didn't work.
What finally worked was deleting all Local Storage Settings under the Flash Player preferences under System Preferences. So...this is what you do to try this fix:
Go to System Preferences. Under "Other" at the bottom of the System Preferences window, you should see Flash Player. Click that. (Now, make sure to close all your web browsers before doing this next step.) Then under the "Storage" section, click "Delete all". Open your browser and try to log in.
This fixed it for me. Now, I don't know if doing this alone will fix the problem or if you have to do everything that ComcastTeds said first and then do what I described above. If I were you, I'd try to do what I described above first, and if that doesn't work, then do everything that ComcastTeds said to do and then do what I describe above again. Hopefully you all get this sorted out before the Olympics are over.
07-28-2012 01:56 PM
^This step alone fixed it for me immediately! (on Mac) Great thinking and finally happy to enjoy the next two weeks.

I have done this process several times over the past 4 days...this does not work for me Win7 64 (FFox, WinIE, Safari)...I called Comcast yesterday as it's been almost 24 hours now and they said the issue would be fixed by now. It still is not...and they have my ticket #/open work order. I have one of the highest "premier" tiers with Comcast around 200.00 per month. So patience is thin.
So I just called back again they are "aware of the issue" and are working to fix it...so they know it's on Comcast and/or NBC's end. I was told "This issue will be fixed by the end of the day". Again I wait in patience.
Again we shall see....

I forgot to say that since I have a Ticket "escalated" and an open work order...the customer service rep. told me today that when it was fixed today (Fri July 29 2012) that they would call me on the phone to let me know it was fixed. I patiently wait for the call 3 days in. Wanted to post this for the sake of being thorough..

All - Most of the issues have have been with individual browser settings or issues with your cable account that can be easily corrected.
If you already have a ticket open, the team will work that and has been fairly quick in most all cases, there are several examples of that in this thread.
If you don't already have a ticket open, please call us at 1-800-COMCAST and start that process with someone who can access your account directly.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Oops - replied to the msg that suggested to change the Flash setting to Auto which is what worked. My reply went to the bottom of the list so it was unclear which one I was replying too. Sorry.

I am experiencing the same problem on my laptop. I am able to use my desktop but not my laptop. I have been trying for days now and have yet to find an answer. If I come up with an answer i will post it.

i'm having the same issues... i'm about 6 hours into trying to get help and nobody in support has a clue.
i've been an internet-only customer for years and was forced to add a digital starter tv package just to watch the olympics on my computer and iPad. now, the agent says that i have to also wait for the cable box to come in the mail some time next week and then, they can confirm my account with a cable box!
i've tried to be very calm and patient, but the 4-letter words are about to start flying... i can't wait to switch to U-Verse or Charter. i'm sure their service is equally as depressing, but this is just pathetic.

Having major problems here.
I wanted to watch olympics, told i needed TV service. So i subscribed. Went to comcast location and picked up HD Digital box. Activated but cant log into NBCOLYMPIC site.
I sign into XFINITY fine, but when trying to access the olympics i get prompted to select serivce provider which defaults to Comcast.
Then i am prompted with error message "Access to NBC Olympics Live Extra requires an XFINITY® TV subscription*.....
I rang Comcast and they sait it takes 24hrs to activate, tested after 24hrs same problem.
Phoned tech Support back and and had them log in with my account as they tried to tell me it takes 72 Hours to setup. Tech logged in with my credentials and it worked FINE!
More than 3 hours bouncing around between TV Support, Internet Support, 3rd Level Support in Phillipenes, And then having my phone call dropped (and not returned)... the 4 letter words started flying!!
Phoned Comcast back, tested with an apparent "High Level Tech" by plugging directly into comcast box via NetWork Cable and it worked fine!
FIx was to go buy new router. Old router was a Netgear150 model
Bought new Router for $99 from Best Buy, tested and STILL not working.
Spent another 1.5 hours on phone tonight with tech... they cant fix.
Adobe fix did not work. Reseting Cache.
2 Machines (MAC) on network with same problem.
Tried 5Ghz and 2.3Ghz wireless and it does not work.
Frustrated much?!
07-30-2012 01:19 AM
You're not missing much. I tried to watch the high-def channel (703 in EDH) tonight and it was completely messed up. Nothing more than MPEG distortion and garbled sound. It was completely unwatchable. Other channels came in fine, but Comcast has been having quality problems of late with certain channels and I'm not optimistic that anything will be resolved.
You would think, though, that someone at Comcast would at least turn on the channel and see if everything is OK. The Olympics are, I'm told, something of a big deal.
07-30-2012 02:37 AM
Same problem. I get NO RESPONSE selecting COMCAST as provider. Don't know the answer to fix. I'm trying to see if an answer is out there.
07-30-2012 03:24 AM
I have 2 desktops and one laptop. I am a cable subscriber and have been for years. When I registered my desktop for NBC's live extra online coverage of the Olympics everything went fine. I connected the first time I tried using the latest Firefox browser. I got the message saying that I could start watching.
When I tried to register my laptop the same way I registered the desktop everything went wrong. I got error messages, and ended up in a never ending non productive loop on NBC's website where I could not get beyond the "select a provider" menu. Everytime I clicked on Comcast I would get the select a provider menu again. I tried every remedy suggested by the somewhat less than helpful people at Comcast (sorry guys but you were not very helpful and the amount of time I spent waiting for your "help" was really aggravating). At least one of the suggestions made by Comcast (resetting my password) made things worse as I could not get it to work. I have to say here that I am not a novice when it comes to computers and that this has been one of the most frustrating problems I have ever tried to fix. I tried registering using both Firefox and Chrome. No luck. I cleared the cache, dumped the cookies, turned off my antivirus, uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Flash Player 11.3 (I downloaded directly from Adobe), I rebooted more times than I care to remember and nothing worked. Finally, after reading another user's comments, I tried Internet Explorer (cleared cache, cookies allowed, etc.) and lo and behold it worked.
Why this worked is a mystery to me considering that I use the same version of Firefox, IE and Chrome on all of my computers which are all connected to the internet through the same DSL connection. NBC live extra works in all three browsers on my desktop and only in IE on my laptop. Even after successfully registering and being verified in IE, Firefox and Chrome still won't work on my laptop. So for those of you who have the proper subscription to Comcast I suggest that you try several different browsers to find one that will actually let you use NBC's live extra.

As with all US-based cable and video companies, you will need an activated cable box the home before you can have access to on-line streaming for the Olympics. Comcast requires that you have at least Digital Starter on your residential account.
Please send me a Private Message once your cable box arrives and is activated and I can escalate your issue. Thanks.

Has there been a solution found yet for this extremely frustrating issue?
We are now several days into the Olympics and I am still unable to stream the live Oilympics feed from NBC. I meet all of the requirements. I am trying to access the stream from home where I have both Comcast INternet and cable with CNBC and MSNBC (digital package). I cannot access the live stream from my brand new WIndows 7 Desdktop, my Windows XP laptop or my 1 month old HTC EVO LTE Android phone. I have a current Comcast uername and password. I have uninstalled and reinstalled adobe flash as Comcast suggests. On both computers I tried clearing my cache, cookies, specifically deleting all Adobe Flash files. I disabled my AVG antivirus software. I disabled my popup blocker. And ALWAYS the same resuly, on both computerts. When I go tot he NBC Olympics site to begin the process of live streaming the videos, I see the botton for Comcast. I click it. Absolutely nothing happens, it takes me back to the same screen. There is no way to enter my Comcast userid or password, and according to Comcast's much-touted website on teh subject, when I am home I should not have to enter a userid or password. This is frustrating beyond words. While looking for a solution to the issue on the Comcast website a while ago, isntead I find a SPOILER with headlines screaming that China won the gymnastics gold... an even I was unable to watch live because of this $#(#$* Comsast issue. WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE? PLEASE DO NOT keep posting the same useless advice to do everythign that I have already done! There must be something that Comcast is aware of by now that can fix this problem before I have a stroke trying to watch the Olympics live online -- as Comcast advertises -- and being unable to do so!
07-30-2012 09:51 PM
I'm escalating your issue for review. We do apologize for all the inconvenience.

I have had the same problems repeatedly. yesterday comcast called my home and said my account information had been adjusted so i would not have trouble steaming the olympics and it then worked yesterday evening BUT today i get the endless loop clicking on comcast as my provider.
this is a comcast failure of what should have been a straightforward service that has not been fixed
07-31-2012 12:09 PM
I am replying to my own message that my comcast streaming connection is now working....
I cannot explain the repeated failures earlier this morning.
both internet explorer and firefox are now streaming the olympics through comcast

I have read all the posts and have called Comcast twice. Tech help by telephone had no idea there was any problem like this even when asked for a supervisor. So sent a long message to Comcast help e-mail and received back a link to reset my password, which I had mentioned I had already done in my message. So reset password and of course did not work. I am calling to downgrade my service today. By the way, I tried atdhenet.tv last night and got live BBC from London. Not BBC for America.
