New HD Channels in Boca Raton, FL

Woke up this morning to more HD stations - finally. I know have MSNBC, Lifetime, Bravo, E, Comedy,Spike, Fuse, more HBO stations and much more. It's about time - so happy. Now I don't have to watch SD anymore. All of my programs are now in HD.

It's strange, because yesteray I called the CS rep and he told me that I would not receive them for a few more months. Goes to show you, they don't know what they are talking about.

Congrates, you must be in a SA system. I got the new HD channels a few months ago and I just got a notice that more are coming at the end of July.

Yes, I am in a SA area and my town was one of the last towns in my area to receive them. However, Comcast didn't notify anyone of the change. I had to call a neighbor and tell her the news.

Re: New HD Channels in Boca Raton, FL

Thank you for the heads-up. We got those stations, too, with no announcement (No complaints though, thanks to you.)  Comcast customer service never knows anything about the switch-over. I have a Cisco box, and was told in November at a special event for switching to digital boxes in our neighborhood, that we would get the "World of More" in February or March. Since then, no clue from anyone at Comcast on a schedule of when it will happen. Nice to get these FINALLY (really...it's 2012, and we had so few HD stations before)! I am assuming that this is not the "World of More" yet, because the interface is still the same??

Re: New HD Channels in Boca Raton, FL

You're very welcome.

This is NOT the new "world of more". That guide update 2.0 will only be available on Anyroom DVR's with the RNG 200N box for now. The rollout for all of  the other dvr's will be rolling out some time over the summer, so they say. They will NOT give a timeframe for that, so we still have to wait unless you get the Anyroom DVR.

At least we now have the same amount of HD stations as West Palm Beach. They've had it for months. We were the last in the area to get them.

SA? What do you mean by SA?

Re: New HD Channels in Boca Raton, FL

SA means Scientic Atlantic areas which use different cable boxes than the Motorola areas of the country.

Re: New HD Channels in Boca Raton, FL

Thanks. I assume Boca Raton is an SA area since I have SA boxes. Anyway to get a newer box, or convert to the Whole House DVR box in West Boca?

JSH56,

Anyroom DVR is not available in Boca yet. I just called today and was told it might take  a few more weeks.

The only dvr's that are available in Boca are the RNG 200 HD boxes. I don't know about the regular digital ones.

Re: New HD Channels in Boca Raton, FL

That's the old box. I have the "newer" one, but am having a lot of problems with downloading the guide. I don't think it's because of the box. I think it's a different issue.  I used to have the SA 8300HD. That was a more stable box.

I do know that they are having problems with the box they use with the Anyroom DVR too. That's the RNG 200N, but there is supposed to be a fix for that box, just don't have the dates for that.

Re: New HD Channels in Boca Raton, FL

Sent recently to this Customer Service elai address: esl_corp@cable.comcast.com

I am unsure what to expect now from Comcast since the company now has widened its scope with the purchase of NBC Univ. But service for the past five years here in Boca Raton, FL is abysmal!

My latest beefs:

1 Many new HD channels were added in July -- great.  However, we were never notified.  I just happen to find them. I see by blogs that I wasn't the only one.

2 Since the new channels were added, system reliability and picture quality has gone (we've lived here five years) from mediocre of  to pathetic.

3 I have a tech coming out next week to again check out my box, my wiring, my connections to the house, the connections on the pole, etc, etc, etc.  They will find nothing wrong.

4 Every time I call customer service with a problem, there is no trouble in the area and the only solution is for me to turn off the box, have a refresh signal sent, etc, etc, etc, etc.  It's always a problem on my end.

5. FINALLY, I just saw that I no longer have "ultra" internet service and it's now called "Performance."  However, it IS NOT the same speed as before no matter what the customer service automatons say from their scripts. And I am paying he same (or maybe more)!

Some years ago, a technician told me that when Comcast purchased the Adelphia system it was totally inadequate and not reliable.  Looks as if it still is.

I know you don't care one iota when I say that I am finally being driven to try one of the satellite services.

Re: New HD Channels in Boca Raton, FL

JSH56 - Anyroom DVR IS available in Boca. If you call comcast they still might say it's not available depending on if you live in a HOA community or other factors, but it IS available in West Boca.  You have to speak to the "right" person in order to get it.
