Re: Cannot finish setup for watching Olympics on the PC

Same problem, I just upgraded my internet to include cable and while I was in the process of doing such I was reassured by the live chat guy that I would be able to stream the olympics right after signing up. Instead I've encountered the infinite loop things that is being discribed. I tried using both IE and Chrome, but to no avail. I then tried streaming it on my I-pad and had the same thing happened in the live app that NBC put out for the olympics! It didn't even give me the option of trying to sign it, just the same loop as on my PC; which means that it has to be a system error, seeing as the Ipad doesn't use Flash. Anybody have any idea?? I'm starting to get rather frustrated and am starting to look at other providers.

Re: NBC Olympics Not Authorized Error

Total bust.

Clicking "comcast" at the NBC Olympics Live website doesn't work. In most browsers, it just keeps reopening the same page without giving me a chance to log in.

Yes, I have Xfinity.

Yes, I have a log in.

Yes, I can stream movies and tv shows through xfinity tv.

Yes, I get msnbc, bravo, and nbc sports.

Yes, I've updated my flash player

Yes, I've cleared my stored passwords, cookies, and history.

So, Comcast, NBC, and Adobe. I wish Apple would hurry up and put all three of you out of business already.

Re: NBC Olympics Not Authorized Error

Oh, and I should have noted, selecting any other cable provider from the list provides me a chance to log in. Of course, I'm not lucky enough to have any other cable provider. I'm stuck with Comcast Xfinity (for now).

Re: NBC Olympics Not Authorized Error

[ Edited ]

Fixed mine through the nbcolympics.com web page , first I scrolled to the very bottom of the webpage and clicked on the "Help/Contact" and attempted to fill out the form for help but I was unable to get thru the last step when it came to "authenticate by entering code" and I could not see the code, that was my indication that it was not a Comcast problem, it is a settings problem. I then went to the "FAQ" section and tried any solution they had listed and adjusted my setting using IE and right away it was fixed. Here is where I found my solution: http://www.nbcolympics.com/faq/index.html . But first scroll to the bottom of the http://www.nbcolympics.com/faq/index.html page and click on the "Help/Contact " and if you cannot see the code CLEARLY even after clicking on it than you need to go to the steps in FAQ section http://www.nbcolympics.com/faq/index.html . Good luck!

I couldn't find any reference on the FAQ page to any IE settings. What setting did you adjust?

Re: Cannot access NBC Olympics Live Streaming

Can't get this to work no matter what. Using all browers (chrome, firefox, IE) it gets hung up at the select cable provider popup. Try going in via Xfinity link that doesn't work either. OS is Win7 32/64-bit w/nvdia driver. Updated all drivers. Uninstalled & reinstalled flash. Have spent 6 hours on this already which is way too much time. Wish I was living in England again ....

Can't access Olympics stream

I have been trying for quite some time to log into the live stream of the Olympics on NBC. I logged in on Xfinity and it took me to NBC. Then NBC says I have to choose my cable carrier and login. However, when I click on Comcast Xfinity, the screen does nothing. I tried to request help at NBC, but you have to key in characters on the screen and there are none, just a box with an X, meaning the graphic was never uploaded. Considering all the promotion NBC and Comcast has done for this service, you could at least make sure it works. By the way, I tried on Firefox, Chrome and IE. I have the most recent updates for all, so it's not an issue on my end.

Re: Can't access Olympics stream

I have the same problem. On one forum there were several steps recommended by Comcast - uninstalling and reinstalling adobe flash; clearing cache and cookies; resetting password and unblocking pop-ups. I tried all of these and nothing worked. I called Comcast and talked for several minutes to a rep who had me log-in through a different account, shut off and restart my computer and use a different browser. and then i was cut off and the phone went to a busy signal. Really Xfinity - this is ridiculous. I have spent two hours of my Sunday afternoon messing around with this and I pay a lot of money for your service. It is ridiculous that you expect your customers to jump through all these hoops - none of which even worked - to fix what is clearly YOUR problem. How about a rebate this month? and how about fixing this problem NOW?

Re: Can't access Olympics stream

They told me to set up a comcast.net ID and enter that, but I never received a confirmation email, so I can't do that. Several people are having the same issue, so it's obviously a problem on Comcast's end. The rep reminded me that Comcast owns NBC, so it's especially disgraceful that Comcast is the carrier that can't connect customers to NBC.

Dear TG2012,

Many thanks for your post!  It worked for me after 2 hours of experimentation w/all of the other suggestions.

I forwarded your fix to another thread where others are having the same problem (w/credit given to you, of course!).

Ah, that's the "Allow sites to save information on this computer" setting under Storage in the Flash Player Settings Manager, not an IE setting. I tried that -- it didn't work for me. But thanks for your reply.

Re: Cannot finish setup for watching Olympics on the PC

[ Edited ]

Finally resolved!!  It was indeed browser settings for me.  I put Nbcolympics.com into the trusted sites zone, the set security to "low".  I did not immediately realize that was the issue because I had custom settings based on "Medium" - I thought they'd be OK, but apparently Disabling the unsigned Active X and the cross-domain scripting was an issue.  It would be helpful if Comcast had a better description in the FAQ of all the IE settings required for viewing.

Note: One tech seemed to think "very few" people are having this issue, I suppose that depends on one's definition of "very few".  The fact that Google searches reveal a great many Blog and Forum posts with the exact same issue would suggest that many folks are experiencing it.  One example (and I've posted this "resolved" note there too) is http://forums.comcast.com/t5/Channels-and-Programming/Re-NBC-Olympics-LIVE-Extra-Login-Helpful-Infor...

Haha, that's funny regarding the tech's answer because I received an email reply from Comcast for the problem and it has been 24+ hrs for a reply and here is the reply - not kidding you it is only the same standard instructions so obviously they are not checking these forum postings or ?

Somebody really needs to be in charge at Comcast.  I wrote him back and said I already fixed it on my own.

Email received;

Thank you for contacting Comcast, home of the Customer Guarantee. My name is ******** and you have reached Xfinity Internet email support. I will do my best to assist you with your concern.

I understand that you cannot access the nbcolympics.com feature. I know how important it is for youto access the said website in order for you to follow the current Olympic Games. I am willing to provide you the steps in order to access the website.Rest assured that all concerns will be properly taken care of.

Kathy, it's easy to get access. Sign in to www.xfinity.com/NBCOlympics to get ready to view Olympics content like you've never experienced before.

 1. Go to www.xfinity.com/NBCOlympics.

- Select a video you would like to watch. A pop-up window may appear, asking you to select your Pay TV provider. Select "Comcast". If asked, sign in with your Comcast ID.

A post by MaBear20 quoting an email from NBC (http://forums.comcast.com/t5/XfinityTV-Website/Can-t-access-Olympics-stream/m-p/1361299#M12523) finally got it working for me, specifically steps 2-6.

Shame on Comcast for not having this info posted a month ago!

Thanks again for your help!

(Edit to add: the problem I was having was on the "select provider" screen. Clicking the "Comcast" button did nothing. Trying to select "Comcast/XFINITY" from the list did nothing. The settings change finally enabled the "Comcast" button.)

Re: Cannot finish setup for watching Olympics on the PC

I have now tried all the above solutions but none has worked for me. I tried solutions on Firefox; IE; and also installed Chrome just to try there. No luck on any.

I got a message (recorded one) from Comcast in response to my earlier post,  but when I called it, the Comcast agent got my name, said "hello" and then after a few seconds disconnected. So I am stuck, with no solution after several hours of trying.

So, I figured out the problem. The Brower. Firefox and Rockmelt browsers would not allow me to get access to NBC Olympics Live Streaming. If any of you out there have the same problem, try Safari (Apple), Google Chrome or Internet Explorer. All three worked for me.

Chrome worked for me as does safari.IE lags and is slow for some reason.

Try Safari or Chrome web browsers. Firefox, Rockmelt do not work, IE is slow and pixelates or screen freezes.

I have gone through the red text and am still in a login loop. Just like everyone else, I am asked to select my provider and "Comcast" is suggested. I click "Comcast" and then I am back at the beginning of the process. It does work from my laptop, but not my desktop.

Re: NBC Olympics Not Authorized Error

YES! Exactly what ccPhu said:

Also note that for some at-home users, “automatic” validation may occur, allowing direct access to

content without the need to input a username/password."

The automatic validation is failing for me - when I pick Comcast as my provider, it sends me to subscribe to cable TV, even though I already have Digital Starter service. It never gives me a chance to input my username/password.

I'm 99% certain that this is happening because the Comcast sales guy put my cable service on a different account than my Xfinity Internet service. I have intro pricing on an Internet-only package, and he said he couldn't maintain the pricing if he bundled cable TV, so he set up the cable as a separate account.

Well, lo and behold, it seems that the automatic validation is looking at my Internet account, seeing no cable service, and bouncing me...even though I have a valid cable TV account -- and I'm able to log in and stream the Olympics from my office, which does not use Comcast.

To top it off, support has not been helpful...I understand that this is an unusual situation, but cable and Internet just keep passing the buck back and forth, and the hold times for either one make this a real drag.

Come on Comcast, your own automatic validation is breaking my ability to use the service I paid for. I couldn't care less about watching cable, I just want to stream the Games.

Anything that Comcast can do for us?

Do you have any type of security or anti-virus software installed on your home computer? I ask because it may be conflicting with the video from playing correctly.

Re: NBC Olympics Not Authorized Error

Hi Joe,

thanks for responding. I haven't done everything stated in this thread yet (I'm at work), but will give it a shot when I head home. Note that I'm getting something different than what other people describe when they have Flash issues -- they click on the Comcast logo as their cable provider, and get nowhere/it's not an active link.

It is an active link for me but doesn't offer me the chance to validate my account, just bounces me straight to "would you like to sign up for cable service"...even though I already have it.

I'm streaming just fine at work on my work laptop - I'll bring that machine home tonight and try again -- that should confirm whether it's the box or the connection.

Re: NBC Olympics Not Authorized Error

OK, here's where I stand now.

1) Work laptop would stream the Olympics at work (on a non-Comcast connection)

2) When I brought the work laptop home, it would stream the Olympics at home -- until I removed cookies. After removing cookies, it displayed the same behavior as my home machine -- once I selected Comcast as my pay TV provider, it would tell me that I need Digital Starter to stream the Olympics.

3) I did everything recommended in the red posts above on my home machine, with no change in behavior - once I select Comcast as my provider, it tells me I need cable service.

I feel pretty confident that what I'm seeing is an interaction with the Comcast connection, not a computer problem -- how else to explain what my work laptop is doing?

Is there another way to go about authentication, maybe by copying cookies from my work laptop after logging in at work and dropping them on my home machine or ???

I have been reading this blog for several days and have had the same problem.  Note that a majoity of the complaint posts have been removed!!   Give up on Comcast.   go to atdhenet.tv   to get live BBCone.   They have no commercials and it is absolutely live.   As if you were in England.  This is my last post Comcast Joe and I hope many people can see you are editing complaints.

Disgusting!!!

RHS550 - I have heard that your issue is now resolved. Please let me know if that is not the case. Enjoy the Games.

Thanks. Tried forever, then did what was suggested for firefox (checking third party cookie was what fixed it for me) and now it`s working great

Re: Cannot finish setup for watching Olympics on the PC

I have this exact same problem. Get the choose provider splash screen, click on comcast button or choose comcast from the provider list and nothing happens.

Re: Cannot finish setup for watching Olympics on the PC

Adding my name to the list here.  Trying all these steps hasn't worked with either Chrome or IE.  I get either the infinite login loop or just a black screen where the stream should be.
