Password Problem

Every time I log out and come the next day to log into my account, my password is not accepted.  I have to answer questions and reset the password - to the very same one I've been using AND the next day, do it all over again.  How can this be stopped/fixed?

Re: Password Problem

Hello,

Have you tried clearing your cache, temp, history and cookie files in your browser?

Re: Password Problem

No, I didn't but will give it a try.  While I will try, I don't suspect it will help as the problem occurs two different computers, one which uses the web interface while the other uses outlook.

If you haven't already:

  • Change your secret question
  • Run a full virus scan on (all) your system(s)

Re: Password Problem

Yes, done full virus scans and tried different passwords but the problem persists.  The idea of changing the secret question sounds good but I couldn't find where I can do this?

Under "Change password/secret question" here: https://customer.comcast.com/Secure/Users.aspx

Re: Password Problem

I  appreciate it Bruce but nope, the secret question change didn't fix it.  My password is still not being accepted after a few hours.  My other family members aren't having this problem.  is there no way to get ahold of someone from comcast to fix this problem?  At this point, the problem has gotten beyond annoying.  I've thought of creating a new account and drop the one that keeps haivng a problem with the password but if I go through this trouble and loose all my connections as well as past emails, I might as well change providers.  As for television, I'll probably go back to satellite.

Re: Password Problem

I have notified the Administrator of your problem.  Please watch for a reply during the normal Mon-Fri business week.

One question:  Which browser/version are you using?  If you are using Interent Explorer:  Click on Tools>Internet Options> Content tab.  Scroll down to Auto Complete in the window and click on Settings.  Do you have User Names and Passwords ticked?  If you do, untick and click on OK.

Re: Password Problem

Comcast is claiming that their servers are being hacked from overseas.  In order to combat this they are going through and forcing you to change your passwork to include a more complicated password.

One would thin they would notify their customers.  But what can you expect from such a stellar customer service team.

I have had to change 3 times in one week.

Sure send me emails all the time about BS you want me to upgrade and buy but dont bother with security issues....

Freaking morons!

From the Comcast homepage, type in the Username and then click on forgot password.

OR You can go into Customer Central by clicking on My Account, enmter your Username and password.  Once in Customer Central, click on the Users & Settings tab.  Change the password for the Username there.

Re: Password Problem

My comment does not relate to this user, but I just had to get a customer service tech reset my password as I could not sign in. It turns out, than if you select the 'forgot password' link on the main log in page, and go through the steps, you will not receive an error message if you use a disallowed character (in my case a ".") Hitting the next button just stays on the same page, although the progress icon on my browser displays momentarily. You may want to add an error message to this page, as I was unsure what the issue was. Sorry for taking up your time. =)

P.S. I'm using Internet Explorer, so perhaps this is the internet gods way of punishing me for being too lazy to switch to Firefox or Chrome or Opera or anything other than the default browser. =)
