I just got xfinity internet last week, and although my speeds are normally good, my Motorola SBG6580 gateway occasionally disconnects for a short time a couple of times a day. The gateway is brand new. It happens most often at night from 10-12, but it also occurs at other times. Immediately after it reconnects, the internet is fast again (traceroute and ping to google.com show no problems, with ping times of 15-30ms, speedtest.net gives speeds of ~14 Mbps down, ~1.7 Mbps up).
The "TLV-11 - unrecognized OID" error is the most common error I see when it disconnects (I only had the time out error occur once so far). For some reason, these errors disappear from the log over time - only one is shown below, but I've had at least one a day. The gateway time is also an hour behind local time (maybe this and the log problem indicate some kind of problem with the gateway itself?).

I have the exact same issue! It has been happening for months, but for this past few weeks its been happening several times a day sometimes every few minutes.
It even causes authentication issues with my wireless. I have to hit the WPS button to get the connection to work. My password only works if I unplug the router.
I'm in Blairsville, PA and from what I've read it's all over Comcastland.

I decided to just replace my 6580 with a SB6121 (no router for now), and I've had a rock solid connection for a couple of days now.

I am having the same issue as you. I have been researching it quite a bit and it looks like the modem/router combo that we have has out dated firmware that is bad...
Lucky for us comcast does not support the firmware update and so we are stuck with this issue. The router is attempting to get new firmware every night and when it is not able to do so it causes connection issues...
The other forums and posts I have read have all claimed that motorola refuses to help because it is docsis protocol that the cable company updates it and comcast refuses because they do not feel that there is an issue that they are responsible for...
I bought my modem to long ago to return unfortunatly
