Being, shall we say politely, less than pleased with Comcast/Ixfinity "customer service" for many years, I was flummoxed by the announcement that I would be forced to install some kind of adaptor in order to receive what I'd been receiving at ever-increasing costs (now over $150.00 per month). But, whatever....par for Comcast's course, anyway. I orderd the equipment and scheduled a "service" call for today between 10AM and 12noon for a "technician" to set up my adaptor in my living room. I figured I could set up the one in my bedroom myself, since I had no DVR or sound system in there. Past experience with Comcast "customer service" has taught me that the "technician" will charge me if I even so much as sneeze during his "service" time. Saved $30 because they wanted to charge me $30 a pop for each adaptor. Can we say "rip-off"?. Whatever.
So 12 noon comes and goes and no "service" technician. I call the line that called me to remind me of this "service" appointment last night at 7:12PM (automated, of course). I actually only had to punch two numbers before a live person, Shawn, answerd. After I explained my lack of "service", he put me on hold and came back to inform me that "the technician who was supposed to "service" my equipment didn't show up for work, so someone else can be there between 1PM and 3PM.
I'm here from 10AM until 3PM with a $20 "service" credit. I've missed a beautiful Sunday - Father's Day - no less, missed church stuck waiting for Comcast/Ixfinity "customer service".
IF THERE WAS ANY OTHER FAST INTERNET COMPANY TO HIRE, I'D HAVE HIRED THEM AGES AGO. COMCAST/IXFINITY IS A MONOPOLY - THE KIND THE REAL POLITICIANS THOUGHT THEY'D RID THIS COUNTRY OF IN THE EARLY 1900'S. HOW THIS MONOPOLY CAN GET AWAY WITH THIS RIDICULOUS CUSTOMER BULLYING I DO NOT UNDERSTAND. COMCAST/IXFINITY SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

you do not need a technician to hook up the dta boxes my 9 year old can do it. Just so you know they are made for older tube type tv's to still get service after the digital switch. You would never put them on any set up where you had a sound system or any other type of advanced technology.
If you have a flat panel tv or a stereo system hooke up anywhere you dont want these boxes, you will need to rent at a minimum at digitatl set top box from comcast. Also comcast was the last major cable provider to switch to every outlet having a box, so no matter where you go you will need a box on every tv.
