so dont download as much as you want, because once they reactivate it not sure if they will just reset it or keep it the same amount just a warning..

I think that when they switch to whatever new traffic manage scheme they come up with, I doubt they'll include traffic incurred before the new system is implemented. And it's going to be some time before most customers see it, they'll first be doing trials in limited areas for a while.

"We've also always said that we would evaluate customer usage and a variety of other factors and make adjustments as the marketplace evolved. " - that is from their blog which basically boils down to marketing speak for "We've seen how popular streaming content is, we want a piece of the pie so now we're going to Graciously Give you Tiered Pricing and you're going to love it!"
Jeeze, you know I hope this garbage blows up in their face. They want to friggin charge us more money for what we've already paid for 100x over now. Heck, if I'm wrong I'll be super happy, but there is no way they can change the current model of usage controls and still have it affect the "marketplace" which is a term they're using to allude to how much cash their bringing in compared to their competitors or preceived competitors.
They're going to be bringing in Tiered pricing because they'll be losing more and more TV subscribers to streaming services. They think this is going to keep customers!?
Seriously COMCAST wake up. You guys need to leave the internet stuff alone. If you refuse to expand and build up your network then you will see customers leave period.
I'm telling you people, it *won't* be cheaper in the long run if they bring in Tiered pricing. Once it is here it is here for good.

when google goes global, everyone will switch over to google, since their internet price is cheaper and also the fact that they have unlimited data usage, you dont even have to sign up for an expensive extra package just to have unlimited data usage

"When google goes global"? Shouldn't that be "if"?
And what makes you think they'll be able to maintain the same low price when they do it? Right now they're subsidizing the trials. If and when it goes wider, it will have to make money.

well see how it goes, people will want fiber optic is faster speed, they may or may not stay with that pricing plan, but they should stick with that pricing plan, because it would keep people on to their service, obviously though they would want cheaper pricing plans than their competitors like, verizon,at&t,comcast

I am having some serious issues with the new internet usage monitoring that has been forwarded to me by Comcast. I am in Nashville and they put the 300GB cap in place Aug 1. In May we were at 71GB for the month...June 138GB, which is high for us. July magically shot to 489GB. Now half way through August we are approaching our 300GB limit. That puts us close to the 500GB again by end of the month.
I have a bandwidth meter actively running on my wireless router and today we are approaching about 1GB of usage. A Saturday when everyone is home, son is gaming and wife and I are on our laptops on the internet. There is NO way we have even sniffed almost 500GB of bandwidth in July and no way we approached almost 300GB this early in August.
I have changed my network password and have been monitoring connections to our wireless network, but something is very wrong here and I am not happy.
Anyone else have issues with suspect bandwidth usage on their accounts?

I have had the same problem the two months prior to the 300gb I was well bellow 250 but now in August I have already reached my limit and wehave no one else usinur our wifi.

hmm ill have to keep an eye on that when I get the 300gb, sounds like its on their end of making its users reach the usage faster.....

I have been using an active traffic meter on my router and we are using about 3GB a day a max. I dont know how they are tracking individual usage, but it is inaccurate as heck....

Its Google. They are large enough they could BUY Comcast at this point. Heck Apple could buy Comcast in CASH.
I realize it is insipid to state "Its Google." Seriously though, its Google. They are so gigantic and so well known that it wouldn't take long for their service to come down in price. They can afford to go in the red for a short time (eg: Console Manufacturers prior to video game sales) before they go back into the black on a project like that one. The thing is data usage is increasing at a break-neck pace and network providers aren't keeping up or are attempting to put in these archaic rules because they want a piece of the pie after missing the dessert tray.
Google will hopefully step in if ISPs start moving this way. ALL of the old business models are dying with my generation. It is the way of business. Adapt or fade away (in this industry get gobbled up by a bigger beast; ala Ma Bell).
But yes, you are still correct in the "if" as they've not stated if they plan to go country wide yet. But, as in all things that are this huge of an undertaking it does require a subsidy other-wise the plebeians out there would never purchase the service out of ignorance and shortsightedness.
Also, to stay on topic I re-checked my stats it looks like we're not showing any real monitoring right now, but the original Press-Release from Comcast stated that they would turn it off in some areas and turn it on in others. But in the end it looks like everyone will be on metered. The problem with this sort of "tiered" system is that there is no gurantee (that I've read) of latency. At this point I'm fine with the dataspeeds I currently get AND the amount I'm able to download. My biggest qualm that I have is getting latency down. My tap is literally outside of my house which then goes to the end of my street. I don't know where the closest hop is physically, but it shouldn't be too far. It should be close enough to give me around or under 20ms pings consistently, but I don't I get anywhere from 30ms all the way up to 100ms. That isn't very reliable. Who knows what they do to the packets at the head end though...

I am in Nashville and have major computer system friend who say there is no way I can use what Comcast reprorts....even not using downloads at all results in a couple of gigs a day registering.
I have spoken to the tech guys there 3 times. I have days when suddenly I have, by Comcast's measurement, have used 30 gigs.
I have good protection...AVG paid, am passworded on wireless. I watch a fair amount of movies, not high def My next step is to replace the modem. I am really fed up with this service.
