Well, the server for @me.com is refusing email from that Comcast server with a temporary error. "No more transactions allowed" suggests it might be about coming up against a rate limit, but I'm just guessing. Only the folks at me.com (and anyone they've told) know exactly why they're refusing email from Comcast.

It can't be "obviously WRONG", because what I said is exactly what's happening. "Your" problem is actually the same problem as the one OP posted. Me.com and mac.com have the exact same incoming servers. For some reason they're not accepting email from Comcast (or at least not from those Comcast servers mentioned) at the moment. It's a temporary error, so Comcast keeps retrying, and they keep refusing it. And Comcast periodically sends those messages informing you that they're having a delivery problem. After three days of not being able to deliver the message they'll give up and send a final notice saying that delivery was "aborted".

I've reached out to folks that manage the destination mailservers, hopefully we'll get this resolved shortly.

@Steve-baker - Just because me.com and mac.com aren't receiving email from Comcast doesn't mean it's an me.com or mac.com problem. Kind of like a missed football pass. Did the quarterback make a bad throw or did the receiver screw it up? Just sayin........

Still waiting to hear back from the folks that manage me.com/mac.com.

 

Additional data point - it's not just Comcast subscribers that are having issues sending to those domains - contacts at other ISPs have told me they're seeing the same issue, starting about a day ago.

It should be noted that me/mac.com is not refusing all mail from Comcast accounts.  If I use the web-based Xfinity e-mailer, it goes through fine.  It's only when I mail using Outlook that I see the problem.

Wouldn't any e-mail from a comcast.net acccount have to wind it's way through the same servers at Emeryville?

Yes, webmail and email clients have their email sent out to the Internet via the same servers. But there are 15 of those Emeryville servers. It could just be luck of the draw, that that particular server isn't having a problem with mac.com, and that the same problem could come up with email sent via webmail. I don't know. A Google hit on that error message suggests that it's about too many different messages sent in a connection. Different Comcast servers could be configured differently in that regard. But, again, I don't know, I'm just guessing.

It worked. All the backed up e-mail was delivered to the mac.com address
