Crazy question for the moderators and Comcast Internet employess.
When I started my Comcast Internet service and used the setup disk for the service it assigned a username for the service and email. Today I received and email from someone I didn't know and there was persons name in the receipents list with the same email address as myself. Exactly the same usernam e. Shouldn't the Comcast server have a list of assigned usernames/accounts and not allow this. On other sites if I try using a name that already is in use the site will inform me of this and either suggest alternatives or keep telling me name in use until I get one that is original.
If Comcast doesn't have this feature then I either keep getting email from people I don't know and hope that my emails don't go to them or try and change my username and hope that it is not in use somewhere else by somebody.
Any ideas on why this occurred?

According to Jason in Chat his search showed no one that has the same email address. So it may be some poor shmuck mistyped and I got to receive thanks for something his friends did for him.
I am marking this solved and keeping a close eye on my emails I send to make sure they get where they go.

Not to say that a mistake can't happen... But thought I would let you know that normally when a Username is deleted,or the account is closed, Comcast holds that Username for 90 days before it is released and able to be taken by a new customer, etc.

I have had this for almost 2 years. No account closings, email changes, etc. Probably a typo. But from what I have been reading lately with other users having problems and our area having a recurring issue with the video service ( similar posts from other customers in that area of the forum) I was just a little leary. Funny thing is that the Internet has been solid even when we have video issues but I can watch the modem received signal strength drop a litlle when we have video issues but the Internet stays solid. I was hoping that it was a clerical mistake and not a technical issue. Seems us old humans messed up with simple finger fumble on the manual data entry port formally called a keyboard ![]()

I think Miriam may not understand that the original OP's problem was solved and does not affect her, so I am locking this thread.
