Comcast E-mail won't keep me signed in.

Suddenly, a few days, ago, Comcast asked me to sign in when I went to check my E-mail.  In the past, this would happen about every few weeks.  Now, after I sign in, check my E-mail and close it, if I come back even within a few minutes, it makes me sign in again.  Over and over and over.  I have rebooted, disconnected and reconnected my cables, cleared my browser of cookies, etc., and nothing seems to work.  I have probably signed in about 50 times over the past few days.  Help!  And thanks.

Re: Comcast E-mail won't keep me signed in.

Several other threads on this. It seems Comcast is trying to force users to use their home page. If you try to use a link that goes directly to mail (the one that has zimbra in it), it logs you out. If you use the regular preview-page link (http://xfinityconnect.mail.comcast.net/), it still goes to the home page, but doesn't log you out.

Re: Comcast E-mail won't keep me signed in.

Glad to find I'm not alone on this, yesterday they told me I was the only one having this problem that they knew of.  Comcast keeps trying to blame my browser, I use IE, and they keep encouraging me to switch to Google Chrome, which I refuse to do.  It's a underhanded and dirty trick to force us to either use their comcast homepage or load Google Chrome.  I'm looking for another email option and when another cable service shows up in my area, I'm dumping comcast.  I'm really tired of their games.

Why not just use an external email client [program] like Outlook, Thunderbird, or Zimbra Desktop?  That way you don't see the homepage at all and all of your email resides on your computer instead of the servers, unless you choose to keep a copy on the comcast servers.  You have options, including using a free email service such as Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, etc.and those too can be downloaded to an email client.

As for Comcast suggesting Chrome, they're just trying to pinpoint a problem.  They could just as easily suggest using Firefox, Opera, Maxthon [formerly known as MyIE], to see if the problem exists there.

Re: Comcast E-mail won't keep me signed in.

Thanks.  Unfortunately, I tried to do this several times, and kept getting a message that the page was unavailable.  I finally gave up, got rid of my Google Chrome web browser (which had been giving me other problems, anyway) and switched to Firefox.  Firefox has a feature that can keep your passwords.  Now when I click on Comcast, it pretty much logs me in automatically.  I got tired of dealing with Google Chrome's problems, and I'm sick of Comcast, which I will also get rid of eventually.  Again, thanks for all of the help and suggestions.

Would suggest switching to Firefox for your browser, which is what I did.  Problem solved.

Re: Comcast E-mail won't keep me signed in.

I am having the same issue but they told me it was a known issue. She tried clearing my browser but was reading instructions for internet explorer to me when I use chrome. We did not get it corrected and she gave me a ticket number and said I would get a call from tech support within 72 hours.

When they called they left a message that" it only works with chrome"? I still have explorer on my computer so I cleared that browser too. It seemed to help as long as I stayed signed into the internet with either browser but as soon as I went off I had to sign in again and go thru the Comcast home page to get there. Also Chrome changed my home page automatically about a month ago. I decided I prefered it since keeps tracks of the sites I go to most often and no ads! I wonder if this id about the home page advertising?

The exact same thing happened to me with Chrome.  So what they are telling you is not true.  I switched to Firefox and it stopped happening.

Re: Comcast E-mail won't keep me signed in.

I guess I'm not alone with this annoying bs... I have 3 computers with many different browsers and I can tell you for certain that it is on their side. Intentional or not, this is just as aggravating as it gets. The chat assistance was anything but. Of course the first thing they suggest is..." reinstall the OS" seriously? Then I get a call from a tech person who can barely speak English... I have nothing against India or its people, but I can't understand a darn thing they say... What's wrong with unemployed American people? I bet they'd love to have a job. Wonder if Fios uses Americans for tech support hmm...

Re: Comcast E-mail won't keep me signed in.

I really think this issue is about chrome loading as the home page even though I have the xfinity homepage selected in my chrome settings.

The instructions from the xfinity page to select xfinity your home page tell you select things that do not exist on chrome tool menu. I tried google support and those instructions only make the home icon on the toobar xfinity but the chrome page still loads when I get on the internet, then I have to go to the xfinity page click on the email icon, go to the log on page and click "keep me signed in" Of course it does'nt, this is such a waste of time!

Re: Comcast E-mail won't keep me signed in.

How do I verify that you are a comcast official employee? I am pretty protective of my internet information.  I also have had a gmail account for at least a year that is also "keep signed in" do you think that might be part of the issue?

Try the link provided by Barmar in the following thread. Works for me.

The best way for Comcast to experience this issue is to have a Comcast employee bookmark their zimbra email, voice, address book etc. page. Close the browser, wait a while, maybe 30 minutes then click the bookmark... You will see a logoff appear quickly on the url line tossing you back to the login page. Here the page encourages you to set this page as your homepage. As someone had previously mentioned, if you set this page as the linked page, you can advance to your email without logoff. This is not a browser issue flushing cookies or an OS issue. even Norton is innocent :0 .

This way nobody has to send info they feel uncomfortable sending :smileyhappy:

Re: Comcast E-mail won't keep me signed in.

I just got off the phone with Xfinity, and I paraphrase (BTW I'm using Firefox): Oh, there's a problem with Firefox, use IE!!! Who do you believe???

Re: Comcast E-mail won't keep me signed in.

I have comcast set as my home page and it saves my password and log on but I still have to click "keep me logged in" almost everytime I go to the email. The problem started when google chrome added a home page and that shows up when I go on the internet. I also have a gmail account and that stays signed in. I could not figure out how to get rid of the google page but I have come to prefer it since it saves all of the sites I go to frequently, including the comcast home page. I just want to find a way to keep the xfinity email signed in.

This is an on going issue that Comcast is aware of.  No fix in place as of yet.  Read some of the threads/posts in this forum and you will see other Users having the same issue.  Did you try the link further up in this thread?

Until a fix is made, you might want to consider forwarding all email to your GMail account.

Re: Comcast E-mail won't keep me signed in.

I too have been having the same problem with Comcast email won't keep me signed in. I called Comcast today, they gave me a tec ticket, called the 866 # and Kevin tried to help but could not. Deleted and reset everything and it still happens. Kevin blamed Internet Explorer and said I should switch to GoogleChome. He did not admit that this is a problem with other Comcast customers, as well, whihc I now know after reading this blog. Not only will Comcast not keep me signed in, but once I am logged into email, it prevents me from reading all my emails and kicks me out and I have relog in many times to get through my emails. Isn't it typical for Comcast to have problems serving its customers and try to blame it on other reasons? More often than not, Comcast's consistently poor service usually comes from a new change that Comcast has not beta tested properly... and of course will not admit to ....

Re: Comcast E-mail won't keep me signed in.

I just switched from Chrome to Firefox because Chrome has lately been having problems loading amny websites. However Chrome worked ok for Comcast's page and webmail. But since switching to Firefox I have to log in to comcast every time, the keep me logged in check box dosnt work. Oh well, at least every other page a go to loads ok now. The only thing that makes Comcast tolerable is that Qwest is even worse.
