This is on a couple of other threads that got started about this issue:
We are currently working on this issue right now. As soon as I have more details I will let you know. Unfortunately right now we don't have an ETR.

Sounds like they aware but don't know when it will be fixed.

I contacted Comcast and got a recording that their email servers are having technical issues and their techs are aware of the problem and are working to resolve the issue. They did not give a time frame when the servers would be back on line.

Comcast email is down for me too. I tried firefox and IE it just keeps saying server is down when I try to open an email.
The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

If you're getting a "cannot find the server sz????.??.mail.comcast.net" message when you try to access webmail, you can work around the problem by changing your DNS server settings to Google's 184.108.40.206 and 220.127.116.11 or some other public DNS servers.

Thanks for contacting Comcast. I HATE trying to get someone on the phone - it's almost impossible. Hope the "technical issues" are resolved soon. Maybe one of the two snowflakes that have fallen in the area have knocked out the service.

Firefox can't find the server at sz0044.ev.mail.comcast.net. - Chicago Area.
One would think that there would be some kind of redundant email server that comcast could move over to? What do sites like hotmail, yahoo, etc do in cases like this? Like I said in my above post, the last time this happened, email was down for around 16-18 hours. At one point, after 12 hours or so, I could send emails but was not receiving any email. Then at 4am, I started getting a lot of emails from clients, complaining...
So yeah, not so good. If we could at least get into our contact lists, we could copy them to another email client...
Comcast tech support said it would call back between forty seven minutes and an hour and eighteen minutes... Nice. Last time this happened, the woman I spoke with at tech support didn't even know there was a Nationwide email outage...

In deep south (Mississippi) having same problem. But I can check e-mail on IPhone. (go figure)
Moved in Sept 2011 to new house and have had nothing but trouble with COMCAST . They always have some unexplained answer thats just BS. I agree that COMCAST must be under the influence of something and all of the service reps are aliens.

I keep getting the same kind of messages when I try to get on my mail in Tennessee. I pay comcast for full time service but that's not what I get! There seems to be a lot of down time with them. I think some lawyer should jump on a class action suite against these idiots when you consider the absorbent fees they charge for these part time services.

Thanks for posting. I've been on hold w/Comcast support for over 30 minutes. Now I can hang up. You'd think they would have a msg about the nationwide emal issue for callers, instead of having them wait for a rep. Guess our time isn't important to them.

I am able to logon to comcast and go essentially every where else, but am not able to access my email.- I get disconnected and message to diagnose the issue.. Have tried several times. We need to obtain our emails.

Here's the odd thing.
This address works.
But my regular one won't.
EDIT: That's only the preview. No go on the actual box.
Probably would work on my Android phone's mobile app though.

In regard to changing the DNS, now why would thousands of affected users do that? It is Comcast's problem to resolve, not the user's issue to work around. I doubt that less than 1% of Comcast users know what DNS is.

can't get to "entire box"
can see emails but when I try to open it to the larger screen...it drops....CC phone call was 16 minute hold then went to CA ...I am in PA.....and we are forced to watch a Chicago station....what a crappy company
