IF I RECEIVE EMAIL WITH A PICTURE ATTACHMENT, WHEN TRY TO OPEN THE ATTACHMENTS, ALL I GET IS LITTLE BOX WITH A RED X.
OR WHAT LOOKS LIKE THE TOP 10% OF THE PICTURE AND THE NEXT 10% IS A MIX OF COLORS. The NEXT WILL BE A MEDIUM GREY.
11-19-2012 09:10 AM
Hello,
Maybe it is because the size of the picture that you are receiving is to large.
11-19-2012 09:23 AM
Just recently I started having the same issue with my COMCAST/INFINITY email. (Photo Download Issue as Described) I tried two different browsers (Explorer and Firefox) No difference. The photos open correctly if I forward the email to my g-mail account. Something is screwed up with COMCAST/INFINITY
11-19-2012 12:59 PM
Same thing is happening to me! Just get about a 5% stripe of the picture. How do we solve this problem?
11-19-2012 01:32 PM
Could one of you post a screen shot? It's terribly difficult to know what might be happening without seeing what you're seeing.
If you do this be sure to blank out any userids, email addresses, and any other personal information in the image.
If you are unable to post the image using the Forum editor, you'll need to host it on Photobucket or a similar site and post a link to it.
11-19-2012 03:12 PM
Hope someone else will do this because I don't know how
Sorry
11-19-2012 09:37 PM
I have a screen shot, but keep getting various error messages when I try to post the image. Is there an e-mail address that it can be sent to?
11-22-2012 05:32 PM
I also have a screen shot but am not able to post. tried with the word paste also. The jpegs are under 200kb - this has been going on for at least 2 weeks. Other computers in the household are not having this problem
When clicking on attachment or downloading - get error messages or photos are just a series of lines

This seems to be another new issue with XfinityConnect. I have already notified the Administrator of this new issue.
To paste a screen shot, in the reply window of your post you would click on the Insert Image icon on the toolbar. The icon looks like a little tree.
All- Post back with the following information:
Which browser/version are you using?
Have you tried a different browser?
Did you clear your browser cache?
Which version of XfinityConnect are you using? ( To check: Open XfinityConnect, click on Preferences> General. A window opens... Which version of XC is checked?

I am using the full version of XfinityConnect in firefox
Yes, I have tried in Chrome - same result
Any progress on determining problem?
11-28-2012 12:25 PM
Just tried the lite version - same results. jpeg is very pixalated and not complete - bottom half as lines entirely across the picture

Please try this:
1. Save the image to your desktop.
2. Blank out any userids, email addresses, and any other personal information in the image.
3. Open http://imgur.com/ in a new browser window or tab.
4. Drag and drop the image file onto the Imgur browser window or tab.
5. Click "Start Upload".
6. When the upload completes, copy the web address of the uploaded image and paste it into a new message.
11-28-2012 01:57 PM
This is one way that the pic comes through - http://imgur.com/7jkKP
and the other way - http://imgur.com/7IMSm
11-28-2012 03:54 PM
The second image seems to be empty, as if it had zero size.
The first image came through, although why it looks so blocky and streaky, I don't know. Hopefully some one else will have an idea.
11-28-2012 04:42 PM
in regards to the second image - I sent it from one computer to the one that is having the trouble - comes over as an invalid pic. I am still able to open the pic and e-mail it to the another computer in the household and it comes through fine. I am also able to e-mail the pic to a yahoo acct on the troubled computer and it comes through fine.

I too am having the same issues. What its Comcast doing about this? When I called approx. 1 month ago they said it was my computer but that obviously isn't the case since others are experiencing this. Bottom line question is Comcast making any headway?
12-01-2012 01:27 PM
I've had the exact same problem for a month. Is comcast working on this?
12-01-2012 03:08 PM
I don't know how much anyone else is paying monthly, but I know I'm paying wayyyyy too much to not be able to see pictures of my great grandchildren. Yes, Life is too short...........to not get this resolved!
12-01-2012 03:14 PM
ALL
The XfinityConnect Team has been made aware of this issue already.
If you can, please post a screenshot of what you are seeing. Thanks,
CC
You might also want to consider using an email client instead, until Comcast resolves this issue.
There are a number of free email programs... Thunderbird, Gmail, Windows Live Mail. I personally prefer an email client anyway... Everything is downloaded to your PC, not to a webpage.
I use Outlook 2010, Windows Live Mail 2012, as well as XfinityConnect.

Hi There...I don't mean to be rude and I know you are between a rock and a hard place trying do to your job, but WHY SHOULD I have to change out something that Comcast should be fixing? I has been a long time.....
12-01-2012 04:11 PM
I am not employed by Comcast... All Comcast employees show their username in red text. I am simply a volunteer who has been volunteering helpin the Forums when I can, for a very long time.
I am offering you work-arounds, nothing more. Of course XfinityConnect should work, and believe me, I am as frustrated as you are, having all these issues with XfinityConnect going on for so long.
In my opinion though, an email client is much better than any webmail program offered by any ISP. You have more control as well.

Let me add my unhappiness with Comcast's email. I too started having problems a few weeks ago, not being able to see jpegs, unless I forward the email to my old aol account, then it all works just fine. No picture problems on aol. It is not my computer, it is not my connection, it is Comcast's problem. Time to fix it, folks!
12-04-2012 03:43 PM
Very much agree. I have now opened a gmail account and everything comes through just fine. It's Comcast and Xfinity!
12-04-2012 05:57 PM
Did you both read the post made by the Comcast Moderator? Here it is, please do as he has asked.
Can someone who is having this issue send me a PM with the source of the of the message that is having the problem.
on the email list, right click on message that is having the problem and click "view source"
Send the entire contents of the view source page to me in a private message.
Send the information via Private Message to Arorapal.
How to send a Private Message:
Private Messages (PM’s)
At the top of each Forum page you will see a small white envelope
This is the icon for Private Messages, referred to as ‘PM’s’. A Private Message is a way to communicate in private, to another User, Moderator, or Administrator out of public view in the Forums.
The white envelope turns to yellow when you receive a PM.
To open a PM to read it, double click on the yellow envelope. If you click on the white envelope a window will open with tabs for your Private Message Inbox, Sent Messages, Friends, Ignored Users, and Compose new Message. You can also access this area by clicking on the Username in a Thread or post. By default, Private Messages are enabled. You can disable this feature in My Settings>Preferences> Private Messenger.

This is an example of a partial photo appearing when you try to open a .jpg file. I have the same problem as the person who posed the question.

This happens to me as well. This is really horrible (a host of issues have arisen just the last few months with comcast's email, unbelievably poorly QAd); I mean, you actually have an email system in 2012 from which you can't successfully download images???
Since you ask, though I doubt it will do any good whatsoever based on my experience from responses (or lack thereof, rather) on other issues, this happens to me both XP and Windows 7, with Firefox, Chrome, IE. It happens with multiple images, both ones I send to myself from my camera, and ones sent to me by friends. What else do you want to know?
