Last year I used Incredimail then switched to comcast. Currently I have Xfinity connect full version. I never uninstalled the Incredimail because research info claimed it left remnants behind that caused problems. Three days ago my inbox mail started showing up on the old Incredimail program while the rest of the mail service stayed on the Xfinity side. I sent test mail to myself which showed up in both in-boxes for 2 seconds then disappeared from the Xfinity side. I have Windows 7 OS w/Explorer 8 browser. I cleared the cache but preserved “favorites”, but I'm not sure if it's a must to clear everything. I have limited computer literacy so I'm not sure if I should just uninstall the Incredimail. Can I redirect the inbound mail back to Xfinity? Then uninstall Incredimail? Any thoughts appreciated.

In IncrediMail:
Tools => Accounts, select your account => Properties => Advanced
Check the box to leave a copy on of messages on server

I went to 'tools' in incredimail and added my '@ comcast.net' as another account but it seems that is just a rewrite of my normal email address. 'Tools' brought me to 'account wizard' where I entered my info. It did bring my test mail to Xfinity and I don't see it in Incredimail so it would seem 'mission accomplished'. But I wonder if this is just a transfer sequence that would disappear if I uninstalled Incredimail now. FWIW this reply has to come from the community mailer that landed in Incredimail as I was unable to move it to Comcast mail. My new mail though, is showing up in Xfinity Connect. Thoughts and comments greatly appreciated.

I do recommend uninstalling IncrediMail unless there are messages in there that you don't want to lose... If so, you could just forward those to yourself... The reason they were disappearing from Xfinity Connect is because IncrediMail was recieving them, and removing them from the server, hence they are gone from Xfinity Connect...
If you are worried about an trace left behind from the uninstallation, I really wouldn't worry about it if there is a little bit left over, it won't affect any other program than IncredMail and you've uninstalled that...
Cheers

For some reason [or possibly my omission] I could not forward mail from Incredimail to my Xfinity. So I rescued what I needed by copy & paste to Open Office. The rest disappeared with the 'uninstall'. I redirected that Comcast be my only homepage and did a message test. All's well. Thanks for your help and advice. You forum people are helping a senior emerge from a novice status. Appreciate your patience. Salute!

Does this conversation about removing incredimail soft ware from computers mean that incredimail can not work with xfinity/comcast? I just switched from cableone to comcast because of a move and I would like to continue with incredimail.

You can use IncrediMail just fine, the OP issue was that they didn't want to use it anymore and it was taking mail off the server, and it was gone from Xfinity Connect
So in IncrediMail, use these settings
Incoming:
Server: mail.comcast.net
port: 110
Requires authentication using username and password
SSL is unchecked
Outgoing:
Server: smtp.comcast.net
port: 587
Requires authentications choose same as incoming
SSL unchecked
If you want to access your mail from different computers using Xfinity Connect, under Advanced, uncheck all remove from server boxes

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate the help. In the madness of packing and unpacking and movint everything we own, being able to get back on line with a familiar program adds to my return to sanity.
