Outlook error: Account name already being used.

This morning I was having trouble receiving email at home from my work account and ended up renaming and rebuilding the account in Outlook.
 
It works, but with the account name Company 2.
 
When I try to change the account name back to just Company, Outlook gives me this error message:
 
"The account name is already being used. Choose another name."
 
Except the original account has been deleted. How do I fix this?

Where was the 'Company" acount name deleted from...Outlook or Comcast.net?

It was deleted from Outlook.

Sorry, but i'm a little fuzzy about what is happening.  Is this Company account a secondary Comcast account?  Can you connect to this account using Comcast Webmail, or is it an Outlook account naming problem?   Please provide more details.

This is not a Comcast secondary account.
 
 
In Outlook 2007...
 
Click Tools
Click Account Settings
Click "Company 2"
Click Change
Click More Settings
On the General tab, change "Company 2" to "Company"
Click OK
Read error message "The account name is already being used. Choose another name."
Click OK (there is no other option)
 
Repeat 42 times. Pull out remaining hair.
 
Go to Comcast help forum.

Since you did not delete the Outlook email account, but simply changed the email account name, you have two choices.
 
1.  Change the account name to something like "Company xxx".   Save the change, exit, and then re-enter settings.  Now change "Company xxx" to "Company".
 
or
 
2.  Delete the account from Outlook settings, and then re-enter it.
 
This does not address the original problem of receiveing mail, but it should clear up the re-naming issue.  (which  had nothing to do with receiving email.)

What's not working....the acct. Name change or receiving email?
 
The name of the acct. on the General tab can be anything you want it to be.  It only serves to help you distinguish between multiple email accounts set up in Outlook.
 
If you cannot receive email in Outlook, that would be a whole different scenario.

Problem fixed by creating a new mail profile through the control panel.
