Re: Comcast filters are chronically missing one prevalent type of spam

I've been receiving the same messages from the same few senders for many years now, spam filter is ON, and every last one has been reported as spam.  I find the Comcast spam filters to be utterly worthless, as they've never managed to block a single message in spite of my persistance.  Not sure why they continue to claim to use filters, as they obviously fail at the most basic of functionality.

Re: Comcast filters are chronically missing one prevalent type of spam

jbrewster01,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. While we do use a complex system of traffic blocks and content-based filters triggered by customers, there's always an ongoing dual on the spammer's part to see if they can outsmart them.

I would guess that your reports did create new filters based on the source of the spam and some other elements of the message we could take action on. Unfortunately, the spammer targeting you and some other customer's accounts may be randomizing the majority of that information so it becomes harder for us to track down.

If you can send me a private message with the email address that you report these messages from some of the engineers and myself here will take a look. We'll see what else we can use to try and make your email experience better. We of course can't filter on simple words (even misspelled) like "medicine" or "coupon", but there maybe some element that hasn't been tried yet.

Private Messages (PM’s)

At the top of each Forum page you will see a small white envelope  screenshot.108.jpg

This is the icon for Private Messages, referred to as ‘PM’s’.  A Private Message is a way to communicate in private, to another User, Moderator, or Administrator out of public viewin the Forums.

The white envelope turns to yellow when you receive a PM.  screenshot.107.jpg

To open a PM to read it, double click on the yellow envelope. If you click on the white envelope a window will open with tabs for your Private Message Inbox, Sent Messages, Friends, Ignored Users, and Compose new Message.  You can also access this area by clicking on the Username in a Thread or post.  By default, Private Messages are enabled.  You can disable this feature in My Settings>Preferences> Private Messenger
