Thanks guys, I have just posted a question which asks for help with an intermitent problem with outgoing emails while on the road.

   I followed the process twice very carefully as described above. I still cannot send any email out. I'm running Outlook XP Home edition version 5.1.

I get the "error 0X800CCCOF"

There's no such thing as "Outlook XP Home edition version 5.1," so I'm not sure what application you're actually running.  I'd guess Outlook 2002.  Or maybe an outdated version of Outlook Express?

In any event, it doesn't really matter.  That error code is almost always the product of an anti-virus package that's interfering with sending mail.  If you can't beat it into submission, remove it entirely, and use another anti-virus solution.
