The password is correct, I'm able to login to comcast.net with it. I've googled what the setting should be and appear to have the correct settings. Thunderbird is able to contact the mail server, but then a box pops up stating "Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server mail.comcast.net responded:login failed.:
Anyone able to help or have/had this problem.

I remember those instructions (I wrote them
...)
Sometimes, I have known the password stored inside TB to get mangled. In TB, go to Tools...Options and then select the Security Tab and the Password sub-tab. Click on the Saved Passwords button and then delete the saved password for this account.
Then do a send/receive in TB. You will be prompted for the password. Enter it and the password will get resaved into TB.
Let me know how it goes...

Oh JR, I don't have "options" on my Thunderbird tools pulldown. I'm having the same problem I have three mail accounts on Thunderbird: Comcast, Mac and Google. It's the Mac that's giving me problems. I can send mail just fine but when I try to receive mail I get the old
"Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server mail.mac.com responded: Authentication failed" message. Is there some way that I can reset my password (even though I am entering the CORRECT password!!!??!!!) on Thunderbird 8.0?
Any help would be so gratefully received.
Thanks,
Michelle
