Hi limoguy1,
The spam filtering options are still handled via the My Account link off the Comcast.net home page. Frankly, the amount of spam that I get comes and goes. As Comcast's and other ISP's Spam filters adapt to the last wave of spam e-mails, the spammers adjust their e-mails and then it takes the various spam filters a while to catch up.
All you can keep doing is reporting any spam e-mail that gets directed to your Inbox rather than your Spam folder (presuming that you have selected to send spam to the Spam folder in your Spam Filtering options).
On the retention issue, as Carole says, you can set that via the Preferences tab (Email subtab). The following retention periods are possible:
Inbox (Unread): 30/45/60/90/120 days or never
Inbox (Read): 30/45/60/90/120 days or never
Sent Email: 30/45/60/90/120 days or never
Spam: 1/3/7/30 days
Trash: 1/3/7/30 days
