If reliable e-mail is an imperative, you should consider an alternative to Comcast's e-mail service.  Comcast has apparently made some business decisions that render their e-mail product substandard.  In addition, the delivery of e-mails that are accepted into the system is often unpredictable.

Perhaps you should reserve judgement until they further clarify what the issue is.

Re: not receiving emails

We are not receiving email on our mobile devices per the outgoing and incoming smtp and port settings. These were verified and setup on or about a 1 July chat with a Comcast representative. Additionally, the emails are not being marked as spam on our laptops. The mobile devices are working as we are able to txt and make voice calls. My mobile device is receiving email through the xfinity mobile app which I do not care to use.

Re: not receiving emails

Are you using POP3 or IMAP in your settings?  Sounds like the messages are making it your mailboxes, and it's some sort of issue between the mail app on your device, and possibly our customer-facing mail systems.

Re: not receiving emails

We are using POP3 for our mobile units. They worked just fine between mid May 2012 until about 1 July. Then we called the customer service chat room. 2 days later we were getting all of our mail just fine all up to July 21. On Saturday we stopped getting any mail.

Re: not receiving emails

I have not been receiving emails from my office for the past 2 weeks.  There was no warning from comcast nor to the senders that these emails were being blocked by comcast.  I would like to have this problem corrected - how do I go about doing that?

Hey guys at Comcast. It is now Aug 1 and I am still without email on my mobile units (iPad and iPhone). What's going on over there?

While you are waiting for someone from Comcast to respond, you need to edit your post to delete your email address.  These are public forums, and spammers can harvest that information.  When you get a response, you will likely be asked to provide the address in a PM to a Comcast employee.  Just look to the right where it says "Options", and click on edit.

Re: not receiving emails

The first place you must look is the other devices/software/services you use to check your e-mail.  If any of them are configured to delete the mails after fetching them, you've discovered what's wrong with the defaults on most software.

Microsoft uses the incomprehensible phrase "leave a copy of the message on the server".  This is technically a misnomer as what it leaves behind isn't a copy but the original.

Mozilla calls it "Leave messages on server".

There are a couple of links in this or similar threads regarding setup of various computer-based solutions.

Blackberries are particularly weird to set up (since they don't actually store the mail) and if you've never done it before, you need to talk to your wireless service provider.

Re: not receiving emails

Thank You, I understand this. What I don't understand is what is my email client? I need to know that before I can address the ' leave messages on the server' part.

Re: not receiving emails

An e-mail client is software that you would use on a computer, phone (other than Blackberry) or tablet to fetch, read and send e-mails.

I use Thunderbird but many use programs with names like Apple Mail and Microsoft Outlook (aka Outluck).

If you don't use anything other than your crackberry or Xfinity Connect to do e-mail, you don't have the "Leave messages on server" problem.  In this case, you need to work with your wireless provider to set up Blackberry e-mail (not a trivial task to get right).

Re: not receiving emails

ComcastAlex,

I too am not receiving emails from only one of my vendors. All the rest of my emails I receive with not problems. I have checked my junk mail box but it is empty so they are not going there. They are in my email address book. It is like they are blocked some how, but I have not blocked them.

Thanks,

Re: not receiving emails

[ Edited ]

See the last few e-mails from ComcastAlex for instructions on submitting e-mail addresses that you know the e-mails are coming from.

The way it seems to work is whomever is sending the e-mails has had either their address or domain blacklisted by Comcast and when that happens, their messages get trashed and neither you nor the sender gets a warning.  Your mileage may vary and my version of the story may not be entirely accurate.

It seems like Comcast is due for some manner of whitelist submission web tool.

Re: not receiving emails

I haven't received email on my Comcast account since August 6th!  Even mail I send to myself from another accound doesn't get through.  I have checked everything previously suggested.  Forwarding is off.  Set to allow from all senders.  Changed my password.  Cleared browser cookies and cache.  Tried 3 different browsers.  Is this a joke?  Is it possible Comcasts email is worse than AOL?

Re: not receiving emails

Bil2lay, I show half a dozen or so over the last week, including one from what appears to be your AOL address. Are you saying they're not showing up when you login to the webmail?

Re: not receiving emails

I also see the one from my AOL account but other than that, nothing since the 6th of August.  I find this hard to believe since I am subscribed to Career Builder.

bil2lay, I see those messages coming through to your account via our systems.  Do you possibly have another device setup to download your messages so that you don't see them when using the webmail?  Is this still an on-going issue?

I have a Comcast Email Account (several in fact) and I'm using a BluePogo website to send out our Club Emails, but no one w/a Comcast account (including myself) am receiving these club emails.    Please advise.   Is this site listed as a SPAM site?  Is that the problem.   How can our recipents get their club emails?   We've had several complaints and they all track back to Comcast email recipients (including myself).

CrowleyDawg: Did you just change the way you send these messages?  I see a few coming in last week, but none this week.  The logs aren't showing the BluePogo as the hosts they're coming from.

We send out emails once weekly.   I will be doing another tonight (Tue).   That explains the traffic you are seeing.

Re: not receiving emails

WWW dot BluePogo dot com is the website we are using for our email distribution.   Other than our Club's From address that we supply, I do not know anything about how it comes across (as to the source labeling).

I just know that several Comcast users (including myself) do not receive our email broadcast to our membership.    So any assistance or direction you can provide would be helpful.    Thanks.

Re: not receiving emails

CrowleyDawg: Could you explain the process of sending a message to your subscribers?  Do you send the message to BluePogo, and then they send it for you from their servers?  Do they use your gmail credentials to send via Gmail's server?  Do you have a contact at BluePogo that I could talk to? (you can send me a private message if any of the details should not be made public)

Re: not receiving emails

I log onto the BluePogo website...create the email using their software...I fill in our generic club email address in the From field and then hit Send.   So I'm assuming their site mask's things to some degree since anyone that replies to our newsletters goes to our gmail account that we monitor.

The site provides an unscubscribe feature at the end that directs any recipent to the BluePogo website if clicked upon, but beyond that, there is no other hints we are connected to them.

The newsletter that went out last night should have included about two dozen Comcast users in the bunch and our subject header stared "JBC Game Week #2".   Maybe you can locate one of these emails and be able to decipher what is holding it back?   Could somebody have previously reported our email address or this website as SPAM?

Re: not receiving emails

I have to find their IP addresses that they use to mail. I'll try to contact someone there.  I looked to see if someone reported your messages as spam, but I didn't see anything recent.  I'm going to call them.

Re: not receiving emails

I'm betting it would be very helpful if you could get a copy of the circulated e-mail and send the header information in a private message to ComcastAlex.  It will show IP addresses as well as From: and Reply To: information.

Re: not receiving emails

CrowleyDawg, Thank you, *exactly* what we needed.

It looks like BluePogo has been flagged as sending a high percentage of spam, and your messages were caught in that.

I'm going to send a message via the BluePogo website that they should sign up for the Comcast Feedback Loop.  Please make sure you follow up with your technical/deliverability contact at BluePogo and ensure they've done this.  As an ESP, they should be doing this anyway.

Re: not receiving emails

It isn't so much a block on your account as a silent blockade of the domain of those trying to send you e-mails.

Make sure you have your spam retention set up to be more than a day so if the messages are going to spam, they don't get vaporized before you have a chance to see them.  Someone at Comcast made a decision on our behalf of defaulting the spam retention to just one day.

I am not getting emails, including reset passwoised request from sites like Microsoft.com.

Also some friends of mine from Europe.

How do we get this resolved?
