trying to set up outlook express. when i click on one click fix, i get a message that this feature is meant to work only with ie and won't allow me to use it. but i am using ie

Are you aware that Outlook Express is no longer supported by Microsoft? This means no security Updates,etc. at all.
If you want to use an email client, I would suggest installed their new one, Windows Live Mail instead.

Do you use XfinityConnect? The Full or Lite version?
Do you use an email client? Which one? (Eg; Windows Live mail, Outlook, a smartphone etc.)
Which browser/version do you use? And- have you cleared your browser cache?
Which operating system? XP, Vista, Windows 7, Mac OS X
Details of the problem you are having.

Hello,
Do you know that outlook express is so old and not supported any more. Why don't you get rid of it and use another email client.

i only found out about because i've been filling out job applications online and many of the job sites require you to reply via outlook

I can't see any reason why a company would not allow a reply sent through Windows Live Mail.

It's not that the web site requires it, it's that your computer is set up to use it when you click on a Mailto link on a web site. You need to configure OE following the directions found here.
I'm not sure what the "one click fix" is, but I doubt it's relevant here.
