Re: sent email being blocked

Is it one specific email client or any email??
If the problem is occurring when you try to send to an aol address,,, the problem is not with you, but with aol.... they sometimes block comcast, due to spamming issues, or so they say any way.

Re: sent email being blocked

it is any e-mail regardless of the receiver provider. I all so have a AOL account if I use it I have no problems only when sending from comcast. The Error reads: FROM mail subsystem to "my e-mail address" subject returned mail: delivery problems encountered A message (from MY e-mail address)was received at 26 June 2005 8:00 the following addresses had a delivery problems:

Re: sent email being blocked

I have also have ran into the same problems. Some of my sent emails get returned knowing that is a valide email address. This is the error message:

The following addresses had delivery problems:

Permanent Failure: Other address status
Delivery last attempted at Sun, 26 Jun 2005 19:21:26 -0000

(Attachments successfully scanned for viruses.)

Attachment 1: Name Unknown (message/delivery-status)

-------------------------------

I believe that my friends email is blocking as SPAM because it is being sent as an attachment or an attachment (my email message) is automatically added as seen by "attachments successfully scanned for viruses".
If that IS the problem, how do I change my settings not to automatically send it as an attach. I see nothing in "Email Options" (comcast)?

Re: sent email being blocked

You are not giving us the full error. The attachment you show has more specific information. "Other address status" is a catch-all error that says something bad happened and it's described in detail further down. So open Attachment 1 and tell us what it says.

Here is the entire error message minus my email address and my friends email address:

Re: sent email being blocked

Your message isn't being sent as an attachment. The delivery failure notice that's being sent to you is simply attaching your original message.

The line about being scanned for viruses just means that the message coming back to you, the failure notice, has been scanned for viruses. It has nothing to do with the message you originally sent out.

There's no indication that anything is being filtered as spam.

The failure message indicates clearly that the recipient's name is unknown on that mail server. So, if you sent it to bozoclown@comcast.net, the message would mean that there's no "bozoclown" with an email account on comcast.

Double-check the name. If you're sure it's right, then there's a problem with your friend's ISP mail server, and there's nothing you can do about it - he'll have to contact them.

Re: sent email being blocked

You should have multiple attachements, one of which is your original message, one (or more) of which has detailed delivery status information, including more specific errors. If you are using Webmail here, I would HIGHLY recommend you download these messages in a better email client like OE or Eudora or Thunderbird and look at ti there, including the full headers (which you can't see on Webmail). Webmail is awful at this kind of thing.

Re: sent email being blocked

Thank you.

I know the email is valid and it also happens to other sent email. As someone else said above, you can send a message, get it returned (error) resend it and it works. Other people can send messages, but my Comcast account is being blocked

Re: sent email being blocked

Can you post the full headers of the bounce message, we especially need to see all the "Received:" lines, to see precisely which mailserver is producing the bounces.

One possibility that comes to mind is that the recipient is running software that sends fake bounce messages. This option is provided in some anti-spam software, in the hope that the error will cause the spammer to remove you from their list (this is generally useless, since the reply address of most spam doesn't point back to the spammer).

For the last week or so all of the email I send to AOL addresses is returned saying "Returned Mail: Delivery Problems Encoutered. It also comes with a .dat attachment which I use Notepad to read, and it says.

Your problem has absolutely NOTHING to do with the original one posted. DO NOT HIJACK THREADS! Start your own. But first:

1. New to the Comcast forums? Please read this first before posting

2. Follow the link provided in the responses which just might help you solve the problem yourself.

3. Edit out your own email address from your post.

See This Thread
by Baric, scroll down to Smiley Faces. Apparently the keyboard shortcut for the smiley that appeared in your post was in what you copied/pasted.

Comcast employees must be authorized to post in the forum in an official capacity. Employees posting here have their names in red and are designated as employees. Names not in red are customers.

This is done to protect customers and for assurance that they are dealing with a Comcast employee.
Non-Authorized Employees are allowed to post but cannot state they are employees nor can they allude to being employees.

Re: sent email being blocked

No, the smiley face was not there to begin with.

No one has yet to give me an answer to my question.

Certain emails get returned to me when I use comcast. I send to a valid email address. If I use another ISP it works fine. The person(s) I send to must block my email for some reason, firewall, spam, etc but only when I use Comcast Webmail. What does Comcast automatically "add" to my messages????????????
to get my email returned?

Re: sent email being blocked

You haven't provided us with the full reject messages source, including full headers, so we really can't say. On the face of it, Toyota's mail server appears to be blocking your message for some reason. But that's just a guess and I can't tell why without more information. Have you tried to contact Toyota's IT department to ask why your messages are being blocked?

Of course the smiley face itself was not there. However the keyboard shortcuts may have been, when you pasted the message, if the ; and ) were right next to each other, a smiley face would appear in your post. :smileywink:

Re: sent email being blocked

Really know how to ask for help from someone, don't you?

A little quick research reveals that this error message indicates that the recipient system has blacklisted the Comcast mail server that's attempting to send it a message. Comcast mail servers get blacklisted when they're used by spammers to pump out millions of pieces of garbage.

And it's not uncommon for one of the mail servers to get blacklisted, but not all of them, which is why this message might get bounced when you use webmail, but not when you use an email client - the outgoing messages might well follow a different route to get to their destination.

The solution? The person you're trying to send the message to probably needs to contact his ISP (tmmna.com?), and get them to remove the Comcast server from the blacklist.

Re: sent email being blocked

BTW, this failure message can also occur when you try to send a message that's too large for the recipient's mailbox (like if there's a 2Mb size limit on messages, but you're trying to send a 3Mb message). In this case, however, since all you're sending is a simple "test," that doesn't appear to be the problem.

Re: sent email being blocked

Anon1363536, This thread was started by Anon1362579. First of all, you really should have started a new one for your problem. Your first post contained an error message, and a later post included more details in another message you get. Specifically, "Status: 5.1.0 MAIL FROM: 550 REPLY: 550_5.7.1_This_system_has_been_configured_to_reject_your_mail_. You also stated "my returned email is JUST LIKE the "errors' that that someone else posted above." The specific info is not "just like someone elses". Here's the problem with hijacking a thread-it gets confusing when we have to look to see who said what, especially when there is more than one Anon posting in the same thread. And in this thread, there were 3 different Anon's posting error messages. All these guys wanted was a complete error message, which you finally did provide and as one of them stated, it was not the same as posted by someone else. And remember this before you use any more no-no words, even if disguised because we all know what they mean, there are ladies present.

There are many email servers sitting behind the smtp.comcast.net host name, this is one of them. I've never seen a breakdown on exactly what server does what exactly (maybe it's regional), but it doesn't really matter. All we really need to know is these are the Comcast mail servers and being sent to or received from them means Comcast is processing the message. You will sometimes see messages passed around between several Comcast server before it leaves Comcast's hands or arrives in your mailbox.
