You may want to check out this, which seems to work:

Just tried and that link isn't working for me in Firefox for some reason. Are you using IE? It just does the same thing as setting the email page as my home page. It will stay signed in and take me straight to email until I close Firefox, then when I reopen and click the link it takes me to the comcast home page and I am signed out again. Oh, well, maybe it will work for someone else at least.
07-07-2012 12:52 PM
Sigh.
Please don't assume that starting from the home page is any kind of lame fix. Starting from the home page doesn't solve anything for me or most of the other posters here. I start there numerous times per day, always click the "leave me signed in" box, and still get logged off.
Comcast has a big problem that they don't want to address and posts that suggest that a home page start fixes the problem all aren't helpful at all.
07-07-2012 01:01 PM
The solution is to back out the change that caused this problem in the first place or to revert to the last source code that worked properly. Of course, this would negate what Comcast really wants to accomplish. That is to force us to look at their childish homepage, all their trivial articles and, of course, the ads...
But then again, maybe their offshore coders don't know how to get back to the old code or where it is...
07-07-2012 01:11 PM
I work all day, and must check my email repeatedly many, many times per day, inbetween researching other sites, etc. Each time I do that, I must log in again. Do they really think that inundating us with all this Krapp will make us spend moeny on something? Or, do their sponsors think that people checking their email repeatedly are so brainless that we have no jobs to do, and lots of money to spend? Who are they targeting??? Wealthy, bored idiots, locked up in a funny farm, with nothing else to do, who only live vicariously through the messed up lives of Holly moguls and freaks who make videos of themselves ? They must be trying to add hits to their home page to get more sponsors. After all the money we pay them, their sponsors must pay them more, since they seem to be more important to please. It is an insult to our intelligence, at the least, and a major annoyance.
If I have to do this overseas in my work, where the connection often is dropped slow, and I pay a lot for it, do they really think I will still be here???

Hi 18joyln,
The following link might help. There are only 10 posts, so read all.. ![]()
It does work. I keep the forums on "remember me" .
Hope this helps.
ciao, bj
07-07-2012 02:51 PM
BlueJay, How do you set the forums to "remember me"? I'm not seeing that option anywhere. I click "sign out" and then "sign in" and it never asks for my password or anything, it just signs me in but no option for "remember me" that I can see. Thanks
07-07-2012 02:59 PM
Good question, erikw,
Are you saying when you sign out, and then go to sign in again, you don't get the screen that asks for your email name, password, and has the option to "remember me".
Are you closing down your browser when you do that? How do you sign into these forums?
If you're using anything else other than IE, I'm at a loss as to what to ask..
ciao, bj

BlueJay wrote:Are you saying when you sign out, and then go to sign in again, you don't get the screen that asks for your email name, password, and has the option to "remember me".
Correct. I am using Firefox, not IE, so maybe that's why it's not working for me.
I also just tried to sign out and close the browser and then go back to this page and sign in but I got the email sign in page asking for email address and PW with the "keep me signed in" checkbox that doesn't work. Is there a different sign in for the forums than the one you normally use to sign in to email?

Erikw,
The link that I use for the forums was created in Dec of 2007 by me.. Things were so much easier then.. That link is ~ http: // forums. comcast. net/
I inserted spaces just in case it messes up your machine..
I only use IE8, so am not sure your "keep me signed in" box doesn't work in Firefox.. Strange, I thought it was "remember me".. Will have to sign out and check....
ciao, bj
edit~~ you are correct.. it is 'keep me signed in"
07-07-2012 04:11 PM
BlueJay, Just tried with IE 9 and it doesn't work with that browser either. Oh well, thanks anyway.

Which version of Firefox do you use? I am using version 13.0 and see the link when I click on Sign in in FF.
I see the same thing when I click on sign in using Internet Explorer Version 9
Need Email Help? Please post the following information in your post.
Do you use XfinityConnect? The Full or Lite version?
Do you use an email client? Which one? (Eg; Windows Live mail, Outlook, a smartphone etc.)
Which browser/version do you use? And- have you cleared your browser cache?
Which operating system? XP, Vista, Windows 7, Mac OS X
Details of the problem you are having.

Yes, that's the sign in that I get as well, it just doesn't keep me signed in. I thought BlueJay was saying there was a different sign in for the forums than for email that did keep you signed in somehow. I tried all of the links that were posted here in IE and Firefox and none of them will keep me signed in or go straight to email once I close/reopen the browser. Thanks, and sorry for the confusion.
07-07-2012 06:08 PM
I'm using IE8 and I know this box has been checked forever on my computer but ever since I read somewhere else to go to Tools/Internet Options/General tab/Browsing History and to uncheck the box "delete browsing history on exit" I have been able to remain signed in even after closing my brower and restarting it. Maybe it will work for others.
07-07-2012 06:12 PM
I have that option unchecked in IE 9 and it's not working for me. Maybe it only works with IE 8?
07-07-2012 07:10 PM
CC thanks so much for the screenshot..![]()
erikw, CC also has IE9 and she said that it works there for her.
I did notice that when I tried to sign out, I had to sign out from the forums, email and when I was totally signed out, I was brought to the homepage.. Yuk, that is my indication that I am signed out. ![]()
I don't know what to offer at this stage..
ciao, bj

Thanks for trying to help but I think I'm throwing in the towel at this point. At least Firefox remembers my username and password so I don't have to fill it in every time like in IE. If I don't close all open windows in Firefox it keeps me signed in so far so that's my workaround for now. I have MS Outlook but it doesn't quite sync with Comcast mail -- no custom folders and doesn't mark things as read/unread correctly if I go back and forth between the web mail app and Outlook. Anyway, thanks again.

Hi Carole.
I'll try not to pile on and add to your frustration (you are trying to help), but I think you are seeing that we customers are frustrated as well.
Like many others this seems to be a recent problem, and I am certain it has nothing to do with cookies or cache. I log in to email and check the "keep me signed in" box. I do email stuff, then open and spend time on other tabs within the same Firefox session. Frequently, when I return to my email tab, I have been logged out of email and that tab is back on the Xfinity home page, all without ever leaving Firefox or cleaning my browser history (cookies, cache, forms, at al). I used to stay logged in to email all day. There
are other sites that give me the "stay logged in" option (like Facebook, Photobucket, ...), and I never get
logged out, unless I close that tab, or close Firefox completely.
If your security folks, or new server security software is doing this, please tell your IT support that when a customer checks the "keep me signed in" box, they really mean keep me signed in. Thanks for any help.

Believe me, I am as frustrated as you are with this problem and the other issues so many Users are having with XfinityConnect. Having said that, every issue has been reported to the Administrator who in turn notifies the Xfinity Team of the problems. Then it is up to them to figure out what is going wrong and fix it. As we see any of those Moderators posting we make notes of what they suggest and pass them on in the Email Forum. This particular one, like other issues, are not happening for ALL Users. I have no clue what is causing this problem.
My only suggestion at this point, until it is fixed, is to switch over to using an real email client. There are a number of free ones: Windows Live Mail, GMail, Thunderbird, etc. If you must get into your Inbox you can also try using the very, very basic www.m.comcast.net to send and receive. I don't know if you will stay signed in there either, but maybe worth a try?
I wish I could help you more, but I cannot.

Thanks Carole. The problem is annoying, but not a show stopper for me. Your email is basically sound, less a few quarks like this one.
Speaking of quarks, I do wish I could sort email by sender. Seems like this use to work once upon a time too. The subject and date sorts still works, but sender sort does not.

The full version is checked. I can sort by any heading (subject, size, folder, date, ...) except FROM. When I click on FROM, absolutely nothing happens. No hour glass, no sort, nada....

I am using Forefox 13.0.1.
I also just tried this with IE and Chrome, and the result was exactly the same. No sort on FROM, but all the rest work.
By the way, do you work 24/7? Seems like you are always here. Good for us, bad for you. ;-)
07-08-2012 12:54 PM
Have cleared cache, installed Windows 7 after wiping disk clean ( my computer tech), installed the latest updates on Explorer and everything else we could find to update. I don't use Firefox, or Chrome, unless I feel like it. Other computer is Windows XP, behaves exactly the same on Xfinity in mail log out. Also, I am recieving some emails that were sent to me 2 days ago??? Good thing there wasn't an emergency, or something.
Digital voice does not register phone messages for two hours after they are left.

I will notify the Administrator of this 'glitch' you are getting. It may be a couple of days until someone gets back to you though. Watch your thread please.
PS I am not employed by Comcast. My Username is sometimes misunderstood because it represents my full name in real life.
I am strictly a volunteer here and have been for many years now. I enjoy helping Users when I can. And yes, I do spend a great deal of time here too. ![]()

Madness. Wne I went to my machine at 6AM I had been logged in to Comcast for more than 12 hours. I stupidly thought that the issue had been repaired. An hour later it logged me out. These people are useless. I have no reason to believe that anyone is looking into the problem. Does anyone believe that they are?
07-09-2012 08:15 AM
No.
07-09-2012 10:39 AM
I have forwarded all my mail to a gmail account, yesterday. It is so nice! No ads and I am always logged in. Now, to find other phone service...and who needs Tv, anyway?
07-09-2012 05:23 PM
That link you provided takes me directly to the comcast home page, not the email page.
07-09-2012 05:34 PM
Unfortunately it doesn't work for me. It still takes me to the comcast home page. Bummer!
07-09-2012 05:43 PM
Just add me to the list of people that have this issue but don't matter.
I have been having this issue for a week or so, but didn't try to find a solution because I figured it would work itself out. Obviously not.
Do you use XfinityConnect? The Full or Lite version? YES - FULL
Which browser/version do you use? And- have you cleared your browser cache? CHROME, the latest. YES
Which operating system? XP, Vista, Windows 7, Mac OS X XP
Details of the problem you are having: I have to re-enter my login info. to check my e-mail, regardless of checking the "remember me" box.
This whole thing is beyond lame. Comcast has had more than enough time to fix this.
07-10-2012 08:06 AM
It happened again, last two days. I was logged in from 5PM last night until 8AM this morning. Then at 8:01 I noticed I was logged out. Weird.
07-10-2012 09:45 AM
Starting last week, I have the same problem. I was only asked to sign in about every two weeks. Now I have to sign in every day--I always check the box that says 'keep me logged in'. And I do NOT have my browser (IE) delete cookies when leaving the site. Suggestions?
07-10-2012 10:13 AM
Hi folks,
The following is a link posted by andyross. I followed his instructions and have been able to stay logged into email through numerous browser openings and computer reboots.
Hope this helps.
ciao, bj
07-10-2012 10:19 AM
This purported link does not work for me. I have tried it more than once.
07-10-2012 10:25 AM
This started happening to me about the same time this thread started. I've been waiting patiently, but enough is enough.
It's the same story at work, Windows 7 and IE, and at home, XP with Firefox. I have not changed any browser settings and I don't delete cookies.
If I leave Comcast and switch to Verizon, how long will my Comcast account stay active while I notify all my friends of the new address?
07-10-2012 10:50 AM
As soon as your ancle service with Comcast and your account is closed, you will no longer have access at all. The best thing to do is set up an account with Gmail, Thunderbird, or Windows Live Mail and give that new email address to your contacts rigtht away to use instead. This would also be the time to move any emails you wish to keep from Comcast Inbox and Folders before you cannot access them anymore.

Thanks. Sounds like a plan.
07-11-2012 04:57 PM
Don't know if this will work, but I am trying it because I have the same problem. In Firefox click on Tools, Options, Privacy tab, and click the History drop down and click on custom settings for history. I checked the second, third, fourth, and fifth boxes and where it says accept third party cookies I clicked on the option keep until they expire. hope this works because this is a pain.
07-11-2012 05:06 PM
@whinny
Thanks for the tip, but my Firefox settings are already set this way and I still get logged out several times a day.
07-12-2012 02:40 PM
That's strange, because it fixed mine. It no longer logs me out. I wonder what could be the difference? I have tell websites I don't want to be tracked unchecked, always use private browsing mode unchecked, and clear history when Firefox closes unchecked. All the other ones are checked.
07-12-2012 02:47 PM
Now that I have moved all my mail and my entire life over to gmail, Comcast has kept me logged into my mail for 2 days. I changed nothing in my Comcast settings. Can't explain it. But I am surely not moving back!
07-12-2012 02:56 PM
I believe the idiots have some code that automatically logs us out at particular times of day. It would be worthwhile for everyone to note the logout times. It may help the morons to fix the problem.
07-12-2012 03:57 PM
Hello Jean-SA
Would you help me with explaining the the exact url location you're at when you leave your computer, but are still logged into xfinityconnect. Are you at the "Email Tab" within Xfinity Connect, where you are viewing your inbox, sent, draft folder, etc? To be specific, when you leave your computer in sleep mode, is the url at http://xfinityconnect.mail.comcast.net/ or http://web.mail.comcast.net/zimbra/mail?app=mail#1
When you go back to your computer and bring up your browser, are you now Signed Out and at http://xfinity.comcast.net/
Regards,
cc_xc
07-12-2012 04:47 PM
Not sure about the others, but I usually am at the ...mail#1 page with my inbox displayed, or possibly looking at an individual mail. When I try to go back, I end up at the noisy comcast.net page. At that point I am logged out.
I don't usually keep a browser window open to the e-mail, and I may or may not have any browser open. Until a couple of weeks ago, it would take me back to the mini-inbox, and I would be logged in, when I brought up a browser or a new window and clicked the bookmark.
07-12-2012 05:15 PM - edited 07-12-2012 05:29 PM
Add me to the list of always logged off. I use 3 comcast email accounts, one of which is ported to Outlook. No problems with that one, but the other 2 are having the same problem everyone else is. I have tried all the suggested work-arounds; none work.
To comcast support;
Don't you have a test system where you can recreate issues? Enough customers are experiencing this problem on a variety of configurations that it is not a needle in a haystack kind of thing. If you don't have a clue what is going wrong, then revert back to your last version until you do. I've worked in IT for a long time. I wouldn't be, if I let a problem that is affecting customers continue for weeks on end. To me it is pretty obvious the problem is somewhere in the last iteration of Zimbra, or it is being done purposely.
07-12-2012 09:23 PM
@ CC
My link is of the zimbra version, but this is not something I type in. That's where the xfinity email link takes me when I log in (over and over).
And I agree with 4t6er, that some policy or server security patch "upgrade" has changed something. I too was in IT for 34 years before retiring. I would never allow my group to release a problem like this (very strick testing methods), let alone persist for more than a day after a trouble ticket was filed. The system we managed supported over 300 engineers and scientist whom would have had us for breakfast. ;-)
